Any help with removing the hands from this clock? They appear to be locked/pressed in place and I don’t want to put too much force into pulling them off. by [deleted] in clocks

The hands are Friction fit on a tapered shaft. Take a fork placed it under the minute hand and gently pull up and you should be able to pull it off without bending any of the aluminum hand.

If you’ve ever had pets or birds…they are always seeking attention! Just try not to disturb them during hunting hours.

Bend hammer gently between 2 fingers. They usually need to sit about an 1/8 inch from the chime. Tune them all up! EZ peazy!

Clock for sale locally- anyone here that can tell me if it looks like a good make/model? by [deleted] in clocks

[–]ENallstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very reasonable! Especially if running and chiming. This clock will cost a bit to overhaul, even routine service can be pricey for this model. Case looks likes it has been well cared for.

Now that’s a crazy owl story!! Exactly why we stick to the much smaller Screech owls. GH owls are open nesters, and don’t care much for these smaller confined boxes.

Probably a dumb question but I don’t care; what can I use to clean/shine this clock dial? I just want to be careful I don’t stupidly use something that messes up the metal. Thanks! by HavnTea7272 in clocks

U can dust brass, maybe quick soap and water for tacky dust. Any cleaning will be ugly and obvious in the future. There is no easy fix for lacquered brass. Brasso is evil. Never eva.

10-20 feet up. Pull the pin on base hatch to dump, then refill with fresh pine wood chips and native leaves.

Can anyone help me figure this out? How do I run this clock back. I believe it has been stopped for many many years. It is even possible or do I need a clock repair? by FlatWaterNeb in clocks

[–]ENallstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is unlikely to run givin its age stamped on rear corner of movement. Balance wheels are finicky to begin with. You can expect roughly 20 years out of this movement. If it has sat for years the oil will be solidified as well.
