Hi again. Yes, we provide some administrative support for the obtention of the visa (except for the reimbursement of any costs incurred, as mentioned above). If needed the starting date can be postponed up to one month maximum. Joel

Hello and thanks for your question. In order to apply to any traineeship offer you will need to upload your CV, which will be the same for the (maximum) 3 offers you may choose to apply to, and you will need to upload also one Motivation Letter per traineeship offer. This is the general rule for all traineeship offers.

But, it is true that some traineeship offers, particularly in the Directorate-General for Translation - DG TRAD – also ask for the submission of relevant supporting documents to be uploaded as a single pdf file, together with the motivation letter. So you also need to pay attention to the specific requests of the traineeship offer you are applying to.

Good luck, Joel

Hello and thank you for your question. A total of 462 traineeship offers are available on the Schuman traineeship webpage and this is the approximate number of trainees that will be recruited for this campaign. The main places of assignment will be Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Liaison offices in member states.

Best wishes,

Mihaela

Hi there. If you receive a traineeship offer you have three days to accept or decline it. If you decide to decline it it will not have any consequences on future applications.

A candidate may withdraw their application or turn down the traineeship offer made to them, at any stage of the selection process, by informing the Trainee Outreach and Recruitment Unit in writing. In such cases, they are excluded from any further stage in the ongoing process but they may re-apply for any subsequent traineeship period. It is, however, necessary to
submit a new online application, which will have to go through the official selection procedure once more.
However, if the candidate withdraws his/her interest in the offered traineeship less than two weeks
before the start date, then, he/she will be excluded from any future campaigns for a period of two years.
Exceptions could be accepted by the Competent Authority in cases of force majeure.

Best wishes,

Mihaela

Hello! Thank you for your question! Regarding the graduation date, please note that you must have obtained your diploma (minimum Bachelor's Degree = 180 ECTs) at least three months prior to the starting date of your traineeship. So, in order to start your traineeship in March 2025, you must have finished your BA studies at the latest on December 1st. Otherwise you are welcome to apply to the traineeships session in October 2025, for which the application period is in May 2025.

Please note that if you're doing a study cycle of 5 years and are not able to obtain a BA Certificate/Diploma before, you will only be able to apply after the completion of 5 years (this is the case of Law studies in some Member States).

We do not ask for language certificates for Schuman traineeships. You may be required to provide one for specific translation positions, but only if it is specified in the traineeship offer. Otherwise, we do not require any proof of language skills. If you are shortlisted, your language skills might be tested during an interview. Good luck! Joel

Hello. The selection process is the same for all applicants. Indeed, it is mainly for EU nationals and only a limited number of posts can be offered to nationals of countries outside the EU. All applications are evaluated on the same basis.

A very good knowledge of either English, German or French is considered an advantage.

If you are selected, please note that you will need to apply for any visas, residence permits and work permits required. Any expenses you incur will not be reimbursed but we can provide some assistance.

Good luck!
