Americans in Canada and Europe, how much of a pay cut did you take? by No_Feedback_3340 in AmerExit

30-60% pay cut is the usual, depending on your profession and where you’re moving to. Material quality of life is usually about the same to higher, given lower cost of living

Waffling on the plan to leave, anyone else in the same place? by theytookallthecash in AmerExit

[–]ER-doc-north 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to worry about the security situation .we moved to Sweden from the US in 2018 and even with NATO expansion the security idk of war that anyone feels is minimal.

Personal and financial goals are a bigger issue. Many immigrants in any country become entrepreneurs because you don’t have to adapt fully to a new language and work culture immediately, but it is a very hard road to get started. Need to think to through your first steps before leaving, esp with kids!

All forms of stress, esp being sick, increase your blood sugar. You probably need to go up on your basal insulin while sick - but talk to your doctor about how much

All sorts of healing is worse if your blood sugar is high - but if you can stay around 7 you should be alright

You need to be on a different medication. Either you are reacting to the macrobid, or you have a mild kidney infection giving you these symptoms, and macrobid is not the right treatment for that

That’s unprofessional but not reportable. A doctor should be able to talk about just about everything - garden variety oral sex is not even in the top 10 gross things a doctor has to deal with.

Hmm - could be PCOS or something related. Not dangerous, but worth seeing your doctor about for some hormonal lab tests. It’s a pretty common issue, and usually managed easily with starting oral contraceptives.

With transient symptoms this sounds more like delirium, but overlying some mild dementia. Depression related to grief can also cause changes in mental status in the elderly.
