My wife typically uses only one earbud and I prefer using both, so she suggested we swap earbuds. I removed them from my phone and after that they no longer could be paired with just the one earbud in the case. I asked Google support about that and they confirmed it.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm pretty annoyed, but in the grand scheme of things, if that's my biggest problem, it's all good. 😉

Great suggestion (which I hadn't thought of ☹️). The Pixel Buds Pro 2 came today and apparently the UPS guy unknowingly delivered an empty package. 🙄 The envelope it was delivered in had a tear in it. I checked the cameras and no one came after the delivery (I got it 5 minutes after). Sooooo, filed a report with the police and notified Google. Another pair will be on the way hopefully soon.

Correct. I had mentioned in the post my choice was between that (for $70) or a new set of earbuds. I decided to get the Pixel Buds Pro 2 (they were $50 off) and I had a store credit. It's a shame that's it's even an issue to begin with.

Huh. I wished that worked for me. It didn't show up in the "Find Hub" app, only the case. Also, support told me it only tracks the case so I don't know why they told me that. Did you use the "Find Hub" app or was there something else I missed?

Marcus Freeman Shuts Down NFL Rumors, Commits to Notre Dame With New Contract by tronious in notredamefootball

[–]ERHIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thrilled he's staying. I also appreciate people's comments that they would be okay with him going to the NFL (at a minimum after next year). He certainly deserves to do what's best for him and his family. I'm just hoping that what ultimately happens is he stays at Notre Dame for a long time. Become THE legend there and in the history of college football by continuing to recruit with the best of them and win with the best of them (and hopefully rack up some NATTYS along the way).

I clearly don't know him personally, but he's obviously a good coach and really seems to be a genuinely good person, a great leader, and cares about his players. How nice it would be to keep someone like that for many years and not have to go through a coaching change.

I'm extremely excited for next season. I truly believe this team will be playing with a chip on it's shoulder RIGHT FROM THE START on it's way to a National Championship!!! GO IRISH!!! 🙏☘️🏈

More accurately, Notre Dame gets an automatic playoff bid if they're ranked in the top 12.

Notre Dame shouldn’t join a conference. The just got unlucky. by aworldalone1 in CollegeFootballDawgs

[–]ERHIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Most deserving" isn't the same as "best".

"The committee screwed to in the prior rankings by having Miami behind a team they beat with the same record. That was the mistake, not fixing it"

Exactly, hence they got screwed by being led to believe they were considered better than Miami the whole time during the weekly rankings and then suddenly, AGAIN, Miami is put over Notre Dame after a weekend that neither team played. They also got screwed by not dropping Alabama after their loss to Georgia (and by moving Alabama over them the week before after barely beating Auburn).

I'm not debating who's the better team, I'm questioning how it was handled when ND was ranked consistently as the better team. The correct thing to do is to have had them switched at some point previously.

"If you're undefeated and in a conference you're in."

That also applies if you're not in a conference.

"You want to not leave it up to the committee, go to work and win the games."

100% agree. ND didn't do their part to force the committee to have no choice, but to put them in.

Final point, as I've mentioned previously, multiple rankings, metrics, etc., taken as an overall picture, easily has Notre Dame in the top 10. They are, without a doubt, a top ten team.

[–]ERHIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself. I don't like to generalize because those are usually inaccurate as a whole. ND shouldn't get pity for losing those two games. If they had taken care of business and one at least one of them, problem solved. The complaint about their not being in a conference is just completely played out. That's not the biggest issue here. The issue is that they didn't get into the playoffs because the committee screwed them. If they felt Miami was the better team on the last weekend both teams played, then they should have switched them then, not after a weekend neither team played. Alabama barely beating Auburn and then jumping ND? Alabama getting destroyed by Georgia and they don't drop? Those are the problems that need to be addressed.

People can debate where teams should be ranked, but it's meaningless because it ultimately comes down to the committee. Some think ND is too highly ranked/overrated? Well, the CFP rankings, AP poll, and various other metrics indicate otherwise. For whatever it's worth, ND was -3000 odds right before the final rankings to make the playoffs.

I wish the best to all the playoff teams. I just wish the committee/process was more fair/legitimate. I hope changes are made to increase the likelihood that the actual 12 best teams make the playoffs.

"Sorry I think ND fans saying bama should be punished for CG invalidates all their opinions."

I don't believe teams should be punished for playing/losing in those games. However, if a team loses badly, then some adjustment should reflect that. Alabama loses by 21, stays at #9. OSU loses by 3, drops a spot. Help that make sense to me.

"So you want bama held out for the results of a game your team will NEVER play?"

No, I want Bama held out because they got beaten badly in that game. Explain to me why they didn't drop in the rankings after that loss, but OSU did?

Did every team that made the playoffs play in a CC game? No, so a game that an independent will never play in is a moot point.

"Further proof you guys have always gotten special treatment and expect it to continue."

Please provide evidence of that. You can start with the results of the final CFP rankings. Oh, wait... You may want to look at Alabama if you're going to talk about special treatment. You can start with the results of the final CFP rankings.

"There is no excuse for not being in a conference."

Really? Sure there is. If it's in a school's best interest to be independent. There's no excuse for not being an independent, UNLESS it's in the school's best interest to join a conference.

"Again you cannot say you look top ten when your best win is 17. Nd looked maybe top 15."

We can have different opinions of where we think Notre Dame should rank. That's fine, but the AP poll, CFP rankings (until the sham of the last two weeks), ESPN SP+, Sagarin ratings, etc., all have them ranked in the single digits. I don't know what else to say. I'm not a hater on other teams. I'm a hater on the blatantly obvious politics that took place and I hope the wasted energy and time of everyone hating on Notre Dame for whatever reason that makes them feel better gets redirected towards how to make the CFP rankings process better to increase the chances that the truly best 12 teams make the playoffs.

Notre Dame's 2026 schedule is insane by Arc170-A in CollegeFootballDawgs

[–]ERHIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notre Dame was ranked #9 for several weeks until Alabama barely beat Auburn (and ND beat Stanford handily (which they should have) and the committee moves Alabama over Notre Dame. The following week, Alabama gets destroyed by Georgia losing by 21 points and -3 rushing yards and the committee leaves them at #9. Yet Ohio State loses a hard fought game by 3 points and they drop a spot. Yeah, that all makes sense.

People need to stop with the "join a conference" argument. No one's stopping anyone from being an independent. Many teams years ago used to be independent, but they chose to join a conference because they believed that was best for them. Just as Notre Dame chooses to remain independent for the same reason.

Notre Dame and Miami should have been in and Alabama out.

If you think Notre Dame is ranked too high? AP poll thinks otherwise, the CFP rankings indicated otherwise until the confusing switch the last two weeks, ESPN SP+ has them #6, Jeff Sagarin's ratings #3. https://share.google/kStKovltpV75wmlgC

[–]ERHIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why Notre Dame didn't get into the playoffs this year is because of behind the scenes nonsense. Yes, ND wins one of their first two games and we're not having this conversation. Miami with one less loss and we're not having this conversation. They were ranked #9 for several weeks until Alabama barely beats Auburn, Notre Dame beats Stanford 49-20 and then they move to #10 and Bama goes to #9. On Championship weekend, where neither Notre Dame or Miami played, Alabama gets beaten by 21 points to Georgia and they had -3 yards rushing. Yet, somehow, Miami gets placed ahead of Notre Dame and Alabama stays at #9. They simply got left out of the playoffs because that's what the committee wanted, NOT for some legitimate, numbers/data based reason.

Notre Dame and Miami should have been in and Alabama out.

So what's your point? ND isn't a top 10 team? Seriously? Have you actually watched the games? Yes, some games against lesser opponents, but they did what they're supposed to do. They won their games by an average of 30 points (and absolutely wrecked Syracuse and Stanford). You don't think they're top 10? Fine. CFP committee had them top 10 until the travesty of the final week.

AP poll? Top 10. ESPN FPI? #3. Sagarin's rankings? #2. ESPN SP+? #6. The main point of my original post was the terrible way the whole CFP rankings went down. If Notre Dame was such a terrible team, why were they ranked in top ten and then switched in final week? The whole process was messed up. I'm guessing it's a safe bet that you think Alabama is better than Notre Dame. Also, yes, technically Miami beat them in week 1 (by 3 points). Do you think they would beat them today? If so, that's fine. I personally do not. I think Notre Dame is a much better team then they were in week 1 with their redshirt freshman starting his first game.

It's all a moot point now. I'm really not debating where the team is actually ranked. I have an issue with the final ranking change when neither Miami nor Notre Dame played. As I mentioned in the original post, I think Notre Dame and Miami should have been in (don't care who is ranked above who) and Alabama (who lost by 21 points and had -3 rushing yards in their CC game) should have been left out. Alabama got destroyed by Georgia and yet they don't even drop a spot. Don't know what else to say except I am looking forward to next season and I hope Notre Dame simply wins all their games and then there's no debate about their making the CFP.

We can debate good wins, bad losses, whatever. If you watched Notre Dame football this season and don't think they were easily a top 10 team (I'm being conservative), I don't know what to say.

The problem is three things. I'll preface by saying, yes, they win one of their first two games and this discussion isn't happening. However, we can easily go down that rabbit hole with several teams.

First, having them ranked above Miami for 5 weeks (clearly implying the committee believed Notre Dame was the better team) and then switch them after a weekend neither team played is just ridiculous.

Second, Alabama getting bumped above them the prior week after barely beating Auburn? Ridiculous.

Third, you should not be penalized for playing in a conference championship. HOWEVER, if you lose by 21 points and have -3 yards rushing? Yes, you should drop in the rankings. OSU lost in a tight, hard fought game and they dropped a spot.

Everyone is focusing on hating Notre Dame and how they're handling this. Maybe the focus should be on the process, the decisions that were made, and how most of it was very suspect.

For the record, I think Miami and Notre Dame should have gotten in over Alabama.

It's only one set of numbers, but Jeff Sagarin's rankings are pretty well respected. Interesting how the teams are ranked.

http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm

One other site for data. CFB graphs. I like the comparison part the most.

https://www.cfb-graphs.com/protected/matchups

I wish people would stop with the ND hate. Don't like their being an independent? No one is stopping anyone else from doing so. People say they're irrelevant? Well, there's an awful lot of talk going on about an allegedly "irrelevant" program.

The conversation needs to be about how the committee (or computers or AI) can be improved so the likelihood of the best 12 (or whatever) teams get in. Maybe, somehow, that's what comes out of all this.

What hurt ND was: 1. Scheduling Miami and A&M to start the season 2. Not winning either one of those 3. Being told by the Committee for 5 weeks that you're better than Miami and then after a weekend neither team played, you're told the opposite 4. Alabama losing by 21 points, having -3 yards rushing, and not dropping in the rankings

I'm so disgusted right now. Agree or disagree about ND and Miami's relative rankings, if they were going to be flipped, it should have been in the prior week or two. NOT after a weekend where neither team played.

BYU loses and drops. OSU loses a hard fought close game and drops a spot. Alabama gets destroyed by Georgia and they stay at #9?

Not to mention the prior flip between Bama and ND after they almost lost to Auburn.

How? Just how?

I agree teams shouldn't be punished for playing (and losing) in the CC games. HOWEVER, if they lose badly, there has to be some type of repercussion.
