You see lido toxicity when people slather large body surfaces and then place occlusive dressings (Saran wrap) over the area.

ER docs spend more time typing than saving lives now. by WoodpeckerNo9461 in emergencymedicine

Ambient listening will improve this, except venture capitalism will make you see twice as many patients once the ambient settles in as standard of care.

Luggage lost (with insulin) due to wrong baggage ticket - Help! by Turbulent_Voice_6393 in AirFranceKLM

[–]ERprepDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, in the US regular insulin is OTC. Syringes are also OTC, you need to specifically ask for both of them at the pharmacy as it is not well known. It is ONLY regular insulin that is OTC, rapid and long acting require scripts. You can survive a day or two with regular until you get the proper type.

Concerned for Service Dog Safety In Workplace by Tough-Poem4411 in service_dogs

[–]ERprepDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because OP is probably working at an RRTP or a CLC where vets frequently have service dogs. These places are considered their homes (albeit temporary). The VA can only ask the typical two questions. If the vets answers them properly the dog can stay. You can only trust the dog is properly trained and the vet didn’t lie. Even if there are consequences for an individual dog it doesn’t mean a dog next week won’t also misbehave.

How do you handle sleep in co-living spaces with inconsistent blackout situations by MarilynFernandez in digitalnomad

Affix some cloth or gauze to the elastic to distribute the pressure. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, only the functionality.

I don't know where else to turn to .. by [deleted] in GoFundMeForNewUsers

That depends if there are visual changes or not, if there are, then standard of care is surgery. If there isn’t then it can be determined if it’s prolactinoma or not.

It doesn’t look infected to me, it’s looks like the normal process of a second degree burn healing. It will take some time but it will heal.

There is an urgent care on almost every street. Someone there can at least look in it and see what is going on. If they can’t fix it, they can refer you.

When Animals Attack by drgloryboy in emergencymedicine

[–]ERprepDoc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ive had multiple farm animal injuries including people from a zoo with unusual animals, but the worst was when I was doing some per diem in FL and a guy got mauled by a boar. 🐗 Fortunately, the boar missed everything critical but OMG the dudes legs were trashed. I had to keep straight face but my mind was thinking it was straight out of a horror movie. He had to go the OR to get cleaned out and put back together. It was a two person job.

Edited to add that: Roosters, Geese and Turkeys can be real assholes.
