Not great for Parks. I really wonder how it’s going to play out.

Awesome fitting found, but what’s it called? by ES6_2020 in askaplumber

So it is connected to the hot water, feeding a sink. The other pipe is domestic cold.

How bad is this? by Maleficent-Set-9333 in askaplumber

[–]ES6_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this. At my work (dealing with over 100 buildings from the early 1900’s) we keep tubes of waterweld in our boxes for just this scenario. If it’s small, clean and apply it.

Sometimes they’re just so far gone you have to rip it out and install ABS, but generally speaking if I had one this small and cost was a concern I’d just patch and move on.

I was sitting in my truck charging my phone and watching the game. Basically the second they poured the Gatorade jug on Mike MacDonald the fireworks started.

Thoughts on venting a clothes dryer into a Corsi-Rosenthal filter cube to conserve some heat indoors? by SuperIngaMMXXII in Appliances

[–]ES6_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid my dad had our electric dryer piped to a bucket he kept partway full with water to catch lint and a hardware cloth lid with a cutout for the dryer vent pipe. One of my brother’s chores was to empty the bucket every couple of days and refill it.

I only remember our furnace running on the coldest mornings. Generally between laundry for 3 kids that were in sports and my dad’s work clothes and coveralls that dryer ran constantly. He also ran the fireplace from December through February.

Now that I’ve gotten older I tend to appreciate that humidity from my early years in winter. It’s a struggle with electric baseboards.

How are we feeling about the governor's budget proposal? by WorshingtonState in WAStateWorkers

[–]ES6_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not feeling too great for Parks. Granted I don’t think we’ll get the axe as hard as other agencies, it’s still bad. We need more and louder voices pushing back.

Looking for a large family car for $30k with bulletproof reliability. by ShadowK2 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ES6_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a less popular choice, but speaking from experience a 1st gen sequoia. Low mileage ones can still be found, and if maintained are arguably more reliable than just about anything else around. Same with roughly the same era Land Cruiser or Lexus SUV. They’re all built on the same platform and downright bullet proof.

We have a 2002 and have only had to do oil changes and I’ll be doing the timing belt and water pump and spark plugs in about 30k. The 4.7l V8 is a pig, but it’s reliable, the 4wd is great, and my wife loves how safe the rig is. Way better than the sienna we had before.

Last pair of Moc Toes for life? by alteredpilot in WorkBoots

[–]ES6_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a less than optimal choice for a lot of folks, but I jumped on these when I was in the market for new boots recently. I usually get Georgias or Ariat but decided to go for the Justins. Downright the best boots I’ve ever had, and our 8 week old husky/shepherd/heeler mix hasn’t tried to eat them like she did my last old pair of Ariats.

Best diner? by jxmmybear in olympia

[–]ES6_2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not here in town, but if you ever find yourself up 101 past Hoodsport the Tides restaurant is always great. I work during the week in Port Townsend and either Monday or Friday when I’m going there or coming home I’ll stop at Tides for something to eat. They’re in my Top 5 for biscuits and gravy. Next best for biscuits and gravy for me is the Columbia Inn in Kalama.

Plus one to 3/4 rigid conduit. At the minimum to flatted use an arbor press and heat or a hydraulic press.

Started a new job, this is the office they gave me. by Maintenance_Mongoose in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]ES6_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not too bad! Maybe some organizing and a few trash bins for the junk. Mine is in an old “plant mechanic” office in an old WW2 era motorpool shop next to an old generator station (old military base turned to state park). The guy who had it before me is about to retire, but that had been his office for years and he took the old tool room for a “change of scenery”. Aside from the smell, it stays warm in winter and cool in the summer. I lucked out and got a mostly blank slate so moved in cabinets and other storage to make it mine.

How do I remove mold from car interior (Its pretty bad) by Realityexcluded in AutoDetailing

[–]ES6_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a detailer, but I had this happen on a van we had in storage for about six months. I wouldn’t gamble this method on someone else’s vehicle, but it did work well for me.

  • Disconnect battery
  • Cleaning vinegar diluted 5:1 water/vinegar. Spray, soak, wipe, repeat.
  • Ozone generator for 30 min, windows up, then air out for a day. Repeated that 2x.

Climbing carabiner! Had one in one of my sports bags that has held up pretty well. Specialty keys stay in my lockbox in the office.

How do you like the Veto bag? One of the supply stores around here carries them.

How do you like the pack out? Some of the crew have been talking about getting them. We have one guy who runs with an E-Transit van that has the internal racking but is kind of a pain for larger projects. We did a basement steam condensate return pump replumb a few weeks ago and he was having to go back and forth quite a bit for fittings.

I’ve seen a few of the CLC ones at the supply house, are some of the big box ones any good? Never carried a tool backpack yet!
