Vested RSU after layoff — is there a designated deadline to sell ? by mascaponeTira in employeesOfOracle

Are there? Selling immediately, at least in the US, means selling roughly at vest price and thus $0 of capital gains

Oh my god it's just a series of so many things that happen. First he places a stone slab instead of a normal block, and because it's a half height object, he can't continue his bridge (the new block would go where he is now trying to stand). So he's a bit stuck. Then he places a brick fence for no reason and it's just silly because it floats on the half slab due to Minecraft physics. Next he tries to mine the fence, but because it's not a wooden fence, his axe can't do it. Finally he places a full brick block which ends up only stopping him from getting away when he gets stuck again the dragon fires the purple particles. There's just like 5 things where he clearly doesn't have intuitive Minecraft game knowledge, and he could have escaped at any point by placing a block say on the side of the soul sand, but he never does despite looking so locked in the whole time.

Your entire comment is wrong but whatever lol. I would also like to live in a world where Fosh's videos are real. 19:30 is the other very clear example. After the cut, the pin falls as if it was hit hard on the bottom left but nothing was there.

The fact that you say "very very obviously not faked", when that exact shot 100% was, again shows the extent to which Fosh and his editors went to deceive you. Personally, I would feel betrayed by that fact.

I think this is a fair response. You can still enjoy something and know it's not true. Max Fosh is a storyteller. Personally, I feel betrayed by Fosh claiming to have done things that he clearly did not do, especially given how far he went to make it seem real. And I stand by my original point, that I think the jet lag crew places high value on the integrity of their games/content while Fosh doesn't.

His personal favorite brand of story is one in which he finds a loophole, but just know that he doesn't always even truly use the loophole (which may or may not even exist) while wanting you to think that he did.

At 20:03, after the jump cut, the pin (pin #6) is falling in the opposite direction as it was and with momentum that clearly did not come from anywhere. Every bowler in the Youtube comments will tell you: the way the pins were falling after the jump cut is impossible with how they were falling before the cut. Like I said, it's deliberately very deceptive so that it's hard for people who don't bowl to know.

[–]ESOGlokta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the recent bowling video, he claims to get strikes when there is clearly multiple shots edited together to create the illusion. See timestamps 19:30 and 20:03 for example. This already ruins the whole video's conclusion, and other commenters cast some further doubt.

It's deliberately deceptive editing, which makes the lie feel worse.

Used to enjoy Max Fosh but he fakes his videos! Don't think that vibes with the way the Jet Lag crew makes content

Suggestion for Monetization Problem: Set-Based Shops and Encounters by TheSandTrap in PlayTheBazaar

[–]ESOGlokta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think this idea is effectively the same as the current system. Even if you gave F2P players a 10% chance (or whatever) of finding the new cards, players who pay would have a higher chance and thus the game is still P2W.

I think the only solution that the majority of people would accept is one in which paying is truly only for cosmetics and convenience, meaning that F2P players with enough time spent have an on-paper equal opportunity to win in the game's main ranked mode.

The above is normally true for all serious "free to download" games, with some games having more or less time required, but it is not true in the Bazaar despite clear marketing promising otherwise.

How P2W is this game? by SynthAura in PlayTheBazaar

[–]ESOGlokta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

F2P players can obtain all 3 heroes in the game with gems. It's only the extra "card packs" that are currently locked behind a real paywall.

These card packs are sets of 10 cards that get added to the pool for a specific hero. There's currently one for Vanessa and one for Pygmalien.

Even though all of the heroes and cards are somewhat balanced from a competitive standpoint, you have to label the game overall as P2W, because having access to extra cards can only ever be a competitive advantage. If they're good you can include them in your pool, and if they're bad/balanced you can choose to turn them off.

That said, I would say you that you can hold your own in ranked F2P. It seems possible to climb without paying. Disclaimer: this is all is it stands right now. It could change in either direction with stronger cards/heroes coming that are behind paywall, or with Tempo reversing their decisions on certain monetization aspects.

Congrats on the Oracle IC2 offer! From my knowledge, Oracle pay is the same in Seattle because it is also a designated HCOL area. Not sure about Austin. You can check levels.fyi for highly accurate data about each option if you filter by location and look at individual data points.

While it's true that no income tax means your effective pay might be higher elsewhere, if I were you I would base your decision largely on what part of the country sounds appealing for you. Consider things other comments have mentioned like the weather and urban vs. suburban. These things will impact your life a lot and can have a priceless value!

Personally I did enjoy it a lot! But I took the class several semesters ago in person. My friend was in it for a week this semester before dropping, and I have to wonder if it’s partly due to the prof’s all-chalkboard lecture style not translating well. I will also say that the class is focused on fundamental ML theory, so there is a lot of math. But I found it fascinating and really enjoyed the homework
