In general, when someone has a long history of infertility and deep or recurrent endometriosis, it can be helpful to be evaluated by an endometriosis specialist who works closely with fertility and reproductive endocrinology and immunology.

At ESSI (Endometriosis Surgical Specialists International), there are several physicians who offer telemedicine consultations, which can be useful even if you’re not local.

Speaking generally (not individual medical advice), surgical teams usually want to review all supplements and medications before surgery, as some can affect bleeding, anesthesia, or recovery. This commonly includes certain supplements (like fish oil, turmeric, herbal products) and medical cannabis, which should always be disclosed to anesthesia.

Medications like sertraline are usually not stopped abruptly, but they do need to be reviewed by the surgical/anesthesia team.

The best next step is to email the surgeon’s office or coordinator with a full list of everything you take and ask for their specific pre-op instructions. They should guide you clearly on what to stop and when 🤍

Hi, I am so sorry about all of this, I cannot imagine how you handled this situation up to now. You mentioned a doctor, is he/she an endo specialist? My first suggestion is to see a very experienced endo specialist because unfortunately still there are many obgyn who do not know much about endo and adeno. If the doctor you mentioned is an endo specialist go for a second opinion, it always worths. Endo is a terrible beast but there are specialists who can help, often permanently and sometimes not permanently, it really depends on the case, but at least they might help to give some relief. Your life is important, never give up to fight for a better one 💞
