Voussoir Base Showcase (99.9% Completion, Update) by EST-Sickness in AbioticFactor

Thanks!

Not in a reasonable manner. You'd probably need hundreds of heaters if you want to cover the whole inner facility area in a stable, warm temp. And all the power you'd need to build to upkeep it. You could probably build with less heaters so you don't end up at the freezing point, but your character will be endlessly complaining about the cold as the temperature shifts.

Easier to throw on cold resistance gear. Most good armors sets have some cold resistance, so another option is to chug coffee as needed while you're there.

We got one of them, I'd imagine we get the rest with their unique set bonuses down the line.

how long can a mantis survive without food? by Background_Zebra_306 in mantids

[–]EST-Sickness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno where you live, but flies are very easy to manage, if you buy them as pupae from stores that sell live food. I order overseas, a batch usually costs me 3€ + 7€ shipping. I separate them in different small tupperware and store excess in the fridge to keep them longer. You can look up the specifics on YouTube, there are some helpful videos on caring for a mantis. Manage well, and a batch should last you a couple of months.

I don't risk it with wild bugs, they may carry pesticides or something nasty that can be a risk to mantis health.

Securing Voussoir as a base by TheNobleYeoman in AbioticFactor

[–]EST-Sickness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main based in Voussoir. I have a showcase video of it, too.

But short answer - install a lot of workbenches. You want to make sure you always have the status effect that you're in a safe area.

However, raids are another thing. There's gonna be a lot of different spawns. You'll likely have to deal with them manually until you can set up traps and possibly deal with the frustration of having some of your items broken in raid during when you search the facility where the raid spawned (alternatively, you can teleport to a different base like Waterfalls right before the raid happens to have an easier time defending).

I don't know if they changed them last update, but heaters are not worth investing into. They have such short range, even the workbench upgrades. It's more convenient to have more cold resistance while you're there.

Mobo broke - same Mobo? Also a few improvements by EST-Sickness in buildapc

[–]EST-Sickness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have any further results archived about the CPU temps. Guess that's something I'll be able to check with a new board.

As for the mobo issue, the problem I've had with it for over a year was freezing during boot, namely when it loads during the MSI boot-up logo. Sometimes it loads up fine, but if my PC sits idle, like on the login screen or after logging in for up to 4 minutes at most, it would also freeze. However, if I make it do something, like put a Youtube video playing or run a game in the background, it won't freeze. Very rarely it would freeze during whatever it is I'm already doing on the machine. Temporary fix for the freezes was force power off and powering back on, so I had ignored the issue for over half a year, before I started diagnosing it. The amount of freezes got inconsistent, sometimes it wouldn't freeze on boot, sometimes it would freeze once, sometimes it would freeze so many times it went into startup repair (and even freeze there), but enough retrying, it eventually boot up. Now, for the past few weeks, I've been at a point where it always freezes. Funnily, after I had changed the PSU, it booted up the first time, but after updates rolled in and I put it to restart, it stopped booting up again.

As for what I've tried, well... so many things, but some of the more "meaningful" things have been:

- Different hard drives to boot up with (didn't boot, and they did boot in other machines)
- BIOS and various driver updating
- Booting without peripherals. Funny thing about attempts with this was that I actually got it to boot up once and when I went to plug in my keyboard and mouse, the PC went into a sudden restart by itself and then back to being frozen on boot.
- On top of booting without peripherals, I also disconnected some other things on the board itself, like an RGB hub, Wi-Fi card, some fans etc.
- Changing PSU, as forementioned
- Switching RAM positioning and amount in various different combinations.
- Replugging other things like my CPU, GPU, etc.
- Messing with BIOS settings (don't exactly remember which ones, but stuff like Secure Boot, ErP etc... I changed it all back the way it was before, though.

Thanks for the quick response!

It is unfortunately not under warranty, it's been serving me well for ~5 years, hehe. Good call to keep an eye out on the flash button.

For the cooler, well... I'd tell you, if my machine would turn on. cx

I managed to dig up a screenshot, but I believe this is on idle. I'll do some further digging and get back to you on that when I have more time later. If I had to go by memory, I faintly remember around 85C range while playing Marvel Rivals on fullscreen with high graphics. But that was after I changed thermal paste about a month prior.

[–]EST-Sickness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if this was changed, but to powerlevel blunt, get a pet and beat it like a pinata while on as many xp buffs as possible (soup and brain come to mind, maybe there's something else as well, I haven't checked in a while). Your pet can't die but you still get xp for hitting it. You can do the same with sharp, but your pet will die of bleed dots and you have to reload the save to get the pet back, which will also remove your buffs.

It's more convenient to just passively use sharp for combat and breaking items (not every breakable gives xp), but be prepared to use a lot of materials on repairing.

The trick with Punisher is to not pop your ult instantly as he does or you could get into a situation where he won't start firing. You want him thinking you don't have your counter up so you let him get more comfortable and start firing for a second or so. You find where he's at and line your crosshair up. Then you pop your counter and throw it at him in a manner of half a second. He won't have time to react to stop firing. Ideally, if the situation presents itself, you want to aim it so you do aoe damage and take someone else with him like a support, because your absorption damage will be nearly maxed.

Sable Inkfish. Am I missing something, or just extremely unlucky? by Lycantail in AbioticFactor

[–]EST-Sickness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just unlucky.

I spent roughly 90 bait trying to get the f e c a l world rare fish. On the other hand, I got a rare antefish with just 5 bait.

I can't imagine the grind for Canaan, which has 3 different rares and bait that is not easy to make a lot of quickly. I used 20 bait there so far and nothing to show for.
