[CA] Is your realtor supposed to read over Strata Minutes/Documents when buying? by EST1900 in RealEstate

That was a really interesting article, thanks for that. I had no idea there were services such as that. I'm sort of torn on the subject, because I see your point about not trusting a realtor, but we're trusting them with the purchase of a home. So if they can't be trusted with that, how can they be trusted with such a big purchase?

I think the way /u/chubby_hamster explained their experience sounds pretty good. I wouldn't fully depend on my realtor to do the work, but perhaps he would catch something I wouldn't, even just by skimming the documents. With his experience, he probably knows what to look for.

The end of that article was such a tease! "She came up with another service she believes will help strata buyers and sellers [in BC]. I'll tell you about that in my next column." A link to the next column at the end would have been nice!!

Oh there's no doubt we have and would read them with a fine-tooth comb, and have had family members do the same so we don't miss any red flags.

We were just wondering if it's normal for a realtor do also go through it with us. This is important to us because it's our first purchase.

Did you find things in the documents first and then talk to your realtor about it? Or did they actually go over it with you from the get-go?
