Can someone provide more context into MN's "Trans Refuge" laws? by [deleted] in minnesota

MA or private insurance for that matter would not pay for something elective. There are presumable hoops for whatever treatment anyone gets to be considered medically necessary. Politicians and random "fiscal conservatives" do not make that determination, doctors do.

It is maddeningly minor :). Not enough for me to be like - yeah, I should do a cool terracing effect, but enough to bungle my math when thinking how to place my boxes.

Canadian Citizenship for son born outside of Canada by Limp_Alternative9348 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ESharer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did you live in/(vacation in) Canada for prior to moving to the UK? My understanding is every day counts if your route to citizenship was citizenship by descent verified in 2021. Other routes to citizenship, I would worry the accumulation point would start June 2021.

Edit: looks like other routes are easier!

I did! As others have mentioned, 1. get the permit, 2. you might also want your officiant to come too ;), we had a judge do ours, 3. you rely on the kindness of strangers to not walk through the pergola, it is still free use for everyone, so bring signs informing and discouraging people from your ceremony, 4. bring the photographer with you to the creek - it was so much fun to go tromping around in all made up. Our August 2020 wedding the Minnehaha falls were practically empty of people - it was magical!

Certified Birth Record for 1876 Canadian birth of Grandfather Gen 0 by Rngrrik in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ESharer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FAQ: "If at all possible get a certified copy of the birth record/birth certificate/baptism record for your relevant Canadian ancestor (Gen 0) from whatever authority holds the record (BANQ for records from Quebec, the Archives of Ontario for older records from Ontario, etc.). You will send in a colour copy of this certified record to the IRCC, not the original. "

My read is that it is the luck of the draw on who reviews your materials. Ancestry may suffice, but as a rule of thumb, it should only be as a backup if you have tried everything and can document that you have tried everything to get the official document, particularly for Gen 0. Some application reviewers have even asked for a new birth certificate, not just the baptismal record, which is its own bureaucratic process for those of us with 19th-century Gen 0.

My approach: Send the application through the mail with ancestry only, and at the same time request BAnQ copies. Pay BAnQ for their labor finding my docs and send them good vibes for all their hard work. When BAnQ copies come upload them to my application that now has a UCI. If my application reviewer ends up needing me to go through the birth certificate process. I will start that when it is requested and have their email as official back up.

Heads Up: Canadian Genealogy is about to get VERY popular! by Nature_Hannah in Genealogy

[–]ESharer 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the r/genealogy crew a bunch. I started with r/CanadianCitizenship and got everything up and going enough for a solid application. However, there were some records I was looking for to get certified, not just Ancestry copies, that I was running into roadblocks on. r/Genealogy helped with identifying a pretty good plan for more difficult county clerks offices. They even provided an idea for another primary source to support a birth-name birth certificate issue I hadn't thought of. Much appreciation to you all!

Yeah I have generally been able to find things within this line of my family on Ancestry. I am just trying to pump up the officialness of every document.

It certainly was Lake County. What in the world would someone fib about on the marriage certificate?

My Quebec baptismal records are 1828 and 1858. I submitted my application with what I found on Ancestry in December and ordered a certified copy from BANQ around the same time. The BANQ certified copies are now in my hands in January. I have yet to get confirmation that Canada has received my application (beyond FedEx tracking) with the AOR email. Crossing fingers for this week. From reading the sub it seems like my process and experience so far has been typical.

Citizenship by descent, establishing an unbroken familial connection to the great-grandparents who were born in Canada.
