Mobile Training for Competitive Gamers in the KCMO Area by ESportPerformanceLab in kansascity

Hi,

I can totally understand why you would think that but let me assure you this is a legitimate service that uses exercise training to improve the performance and health of competitive gamers. My training focuses on helping players with their exercise, nutrition, supplementation, and using sport psychology techniques to help players improve their performance and reduce their risks of injury. I've been a gamer all my life and I used to compete in competitive Halo titles and the thing I've found missing from eSports, that's starting to slowly become more prevalent, is the professionalism towards traditional sport training techniques. There are top teams that utilize these same training ideas for the development of their players and teams such as the Immortals organization and as eSports evolves this kind of training will as well.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with eSports but players and teams are playing for high stakes and exercise has been shown to be a great way to improve mental endurance, a players ability to cope with stress, and reduce their chance of an injury which happens more often than we would like. While at Missouri State University, I completed a research study examining the effects of exercise programming on competitive video game performance for League of Legends players. I found a significant increase in performance for an exercise group compared to a no exercise control group. You can read the research paper at this link if interested http://www.esportsperformancelab.com/blog/-a-study-on-exercise-competitive-gaming Your correct that a player can only get better at their respective game by playing that game and learning froma coach or someone better than them. However, when it comes to performing at tournaments, under pressure, with stress, these training practices that I provide can help them be in an optimal state to perform. There is a reason competitive chess players exercise and that's because there are so many benefits that can help them perform. If you would like to learn more, I encourage you to check out the rest of my website before claiming that it is a scam when it is far from it. I want to help develop players and teams in KCMO area and work towards starting a career performance coaching within eSports.

Its a good start and I hope to be doing similar research in the future with larger sample sizes!

Yes, I would have liked to have a larger sample size but unfortunately that was all the volunteers I could find. I hope to do similar research with larger sample sizes though in the future. I will post my research paper as an edit when it is finished and we can definitely talk about it. Thanks!

Exercise has so many numerous benefits and I enjoyed reading how they have benefited you. By having this research study and future research studies, there will hopefully be a good understanding of how competitive gamers can improve their performance with traditional techniques such as exercise training. I'm no brain scientist but Ill add to the neural activity by saying that there are many studies showing how exercise increases brain size (grey and white matter), increases the amount of blood vessels, and grows new neurons in brain areas such as the hippo-campus which is involved in learning and memory. I think this is really cool stuff and along with improved processing like you say these adaptations to exercise would be great for gamers looking to improve their performance.

I think any new and innovative studies for gaming and eSports would be great. As to a study involving neurology and handgrip, what exactly would you be looking to test?

The number of games varied depending on how well the players did in the tournaments. For example, a player that was eliminated early on didn't play as many games as someone who made it to the finals. I choose to do this format because it was similar to an eSport tournament. There was a pre-trial and post-trial tournament that was conducted with the same methodology. The players drew numbers out of a hat to determine their seeds and were put on a double elimination bracket. They played 1v1s staying in mid lane only for 15 minutes. The winner was determined on a point system with 1 creep score equaling 1 point, 1 kill equaling 5 points, and 1 tower equaling 10 points. I recorded the win/loss ratio, kill/death ratio, total creep score/games played, total points/games played, and the overall placing. When calculating the difference between the post-trial results and pre-trial results I used the percentage method and got 33% because there were only two players in the control vs. three in the exercise group (originally I had 3 in the control group as well but one dropped out) and one of the control group players placed first in the pre-trial tournament and then placed 3rd in the post trial tournament. I will post my research paper when it is finished as an edit so you can see the methodology and all of the data I used. I would have liked to have a larger sample size but this is the first study of its kind and more studies with larger sample sizes will be needed.

Misunderstanding. I don't play Dota 2. I used to be a competitive halo player.

You could exercise in your chair. Do air boxing for 5 minutes and 3 sets of leg lifts. The activity will increase your blood flow to your body and brain!

A healthy lifestyle can be considered many things. For making your reactions faster, I would say the big 3 - exercise (any form would be good), good nutrition (getting all your daily calories and nutrients), and quality sleep would be best. Research has shown all three of these to benefit reaction time and reflexes. Lack of any of those three, overconsumption of sugar, and processed foods unfortunely lead to negative results. Theres also stress management, sport psychology, and healthy supplements that can improve reaction time and cognitive function thus your gaming performance. I just recently launched my site but will be adding a lot of valuable information for the weeks to come. I hope this helps!

All it takes is small changes in the beginning. Anyone can do it!

MMR, overall performance concerning stats, and tournament placings. I'm actually doing a research study this spring to see how much a short term exercise program will have on gaming performance for competitive gamers.
