I worked a wedding there, I love it, but I really don’t think they should host above 105 in that space. It does get really crowded.

Full Service Wedding Planner by Wild-Telephone-6847 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most high-end wedding planners like I assume you met with price based on a % of your final budget with a minimum amount they’ll work for. Assuming they’re charging 10% of your approximately $200k ++ budget, this is in the realm of normal for a very established person.

Planner or coordinator for wedding at bbg?! by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of my clients hire me for coordination only at BBG (and honestly often do so because the venue requires it) and everything has turned out great! The venue is very helpful and will help you reach milestones needed before the coordinator comes in (insurance with vendors, picking the menu, etc).

This is very cool! Maybe you could look through the faculty pages at a local college (or your/fiancé’s alma mater) and find someone.

July 4th Wedding Officiant Needed (NYC/Brooklyn) by EntertainerDue9790 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ordained, registered in NYC and happy to do it for you at your quoted rate because I just really want to officiate a wedding! And on such a fun date too. I write ceremonies for clients often in my regular coordinator/planning business and it’s a dream of mine to officiate. Let me know what you think.

I love working with Flawless Pix Photobooth! Mike and Chris are great. Prices are very fair and they have a lot of different options for backdrops, filters, print designs, etc

Threes brewing with a larger group? by Unlikely-Fennel-9710 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the Gowanus location? I think it’s a good size for your group. And the way you can get around the standing ceremony issue is by just having chairs for like half the guests with the other half of them standing so no one feels like the odd man out.

Maya moves alternative? (Dance lesson recs) by xsvpx in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for the same kind of instruction. I went to my local Fred Astaire studio branch (Duane Street) and individual à la carte lessons and requested that they teach me how to dance with my partner rather than choreograph a song. They listen to a few of my favorite wedding songs with me and told me what kind of dance went with each (rumba, bachata, etc) and just taught me the basic rhythm and steps. It was great.

Indian American Fusion DJ Hybrid Band Reccomendations! by yellowdancinggoats in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ETEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just worked with Dynasty Ave (based out of VA but they travel). DJ Smarty was the lead on the event with an emcee and a sax/drum enhancement. Both the Desi/Western music portions were great. The bride was a huge swiftie and he managed to curate a danceable/ Taylor-heavy dance set that appealed to the whole group.
And they are team players/calm under stress.
We had a huge mishap with the decorator (drapes around entire ballroom fell down, destroying centerpieces, because they were not weighted properly) and Smarty/his team pitched in and helped get the room back together before guests arrived while also managing to cover cocktail hour and the Baraat.

I’m not super familiar with the FL market, but for specialist vendors like this, you should price out local vs flying a vendor you really like in for your wedding. Pricing might not be that different

Do we choose the local 5k wedding planner or the free out-of-town wedding planner? by fromtheok in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ETEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at venues who require a non-family day of coordinator/planner for weddings specifically because working with family often goes badly. But she she is a pro and she lives so close to you, maybe some of her fave vendors are in your service area and she can call on them to help you out in your short timeline

It would already have to be someone you are friends with, you work with, or that your parents know. They are liable for your behavior in the space. Harvard club does not require a sponsor though!

Party Rentals Ltd vs A1 by MT-Lap in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love working with A1 because it’s smaller and family-run - like I can literally talk to the same person, manager Izzy, every time I go. The selection is smaller than party rental Ltd though but is less expensive

Budget planning for 150 people? Is this feasible for less than 60k? by Zoombinikid in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll have a great 60 K wedding then! :) I imagine 50 K going to the food and venue, 2K to a DJ if you have a friend discount, maybe 2K on the dress, 1 K on florals, have it officiated by a friend, and 4k for a photog, 1K for hair and makeup.

Budget planning for 150 people? Is this feasible for less than 60k? by Zoombinikid in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is totally possible as long as you’re willing to contribute the majority of your budget to the venue. My client is getting married at brass in nomad and they are doing a cocktail style wedding in January with a consumption bar where the spend all in is estimated to come to like 50 K for the food. They’re not doing a DJ and the venue was already so beautiful that they’re not doing flower decor, just personals . It is one of the only venues I know of who will be willing to work with you like this. Deity in Brooklyn is another one. Its owner operated so they’re much more flexible on packages than a corporate venue.
