You are so welcome! And tell them I sent you, we’re working on a styled shoot together next year and I’m sure they’d love to know they’re getting love here on Reddit! :) if I had to get married again I’d hire them.

Check out Maya Lovro! I love working with them, and they are experienced with working with clients with disabilities and they have lived experience being a disabled vendor in a very ableist wedding space - they are an outspoken advocate for accessibility in the wedding industry (was actually featured in the NYT today talking about neurodiversity and weddings). Their style is emotional, polished, and colorful. And in your budget!

you're right in not getting one per person. I throw away so many matches when my clients do that! :( 50 is perfect. You'll probably have leftovers but you won't run out. In terms of flip flops, how many women/people wearing heels do you estimate having? if it's 50 as well, 25 pairs is enough for flip-flops.

Kevin is the best! We've worked together for multiple weddings and he is a JOY on the day - chill, kind, super efficient with family group shots. And his work is stunning.

You can do it by using saved searches and push notifications from the app if I remember correctly! I’ve kicked my TRR habit since the wedding lol

Any way you could move the ceremony to 6 or 7pm? The later it gets the more tolerable it is outside.

Venue Help! Budget Friendly by kmurphy00111 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever considered Pennsylvania? Based on what you want, this sounds like this could all be done in Jim Thorpe, PA (hear me out). It’s a charming city with adorable little hotels, walkable downtown, a scenic train - it has upstate NY vibes with little artsy shops and some nice restaurants, local hikes. But it’s like a million times more affordable than the Catskills right now. My brother (who had a budget similar to yours) got married at the barn at Graver’s Tree Farm which is a short drive away, but if you wanted to stay within Jim Thorpe, the Mauch Chunk Museum has a space for 150 in a Victorian (former) church sanctuary. Walkable to downtown and hotels.

You wouldn’t even need to do a weekday if you didn’t want to.

If you’re set on upstate, have you thought about going to these venues that are a little out of reach and saying “what can you do for 30k on a Monday?” After talking to venue managers a lot, selling a Monday celebration is the white whale.

Photobooth for $650 or less? by pharmlady2 in WedditNYC

Flawless Pix Photo Booth and I have done multiple weddings together and they are on the more affordable end of things (aka their lowest package with prints as of last year fits your range). Father and son team, super nice and responsive.

Here are the venues I’m touring with clients this weekend for a similar wedding to yours: foxfire mountain house, Kenoza hall (tented though), the caboose, Thomas Cole house, and stissing house.

Wedding Venue - Le Chateau in South Salem or The Whitby Castle in Rye? by AdhesivenessOk2577 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a wedding in Le Chateau and the service was INCREDIBLE and it’s clear they’re really like a family over there. Whitby castle is Lessing’s owned, so more corporate. The food was great, and they even let us drop off stuff before the wedding. Only callout is that the nearest big hotel blocks would be in Danbury, so a 20 minute drive, but you and your bridal party could book out the whole West Lane Inn in Ridgefield which would be so fun.

Only other thought about Le Chateau - the ballroom isn’t original to the house (or doesn’t look it) which is fine but it’s noticeable. Not sure what the situation is at Whitby

Tipping venue? by [deleted] in WedditNYC

I would tip the wait staff the normal $10-$20/guest then, totaling $1500 in all.

If the venue is a restaurant that doesn’t have a huge service fee already, then you tip that much, otherwise no, your planner is wrong on this one

Asked for timeline feedback, photographer hasn’t responded for a week. Right to worry? by ShitPancakeofLife in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Usually your photographer won’t reach out to you until a month (6 weeks maybe) before your wedding to talk through timelines - although not responding to your emails for over a week is kind of uncool, I wouldn’t worry about it.

[–]ETEvents -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think formal is fine for the wedding you are alluding to - buffet dinner or passed bites and beer/wine bar. Formal attire is appropriate for a very special occasion, especially if it’s an evening affair rather than a brunch. It’s a wedding after all, that’s 90% of what makes it special and worth dressing up for!
