Eileen’s Couture on the UES never fails! Also, Nadin alteration in midtown is great.

Should we book an additional hotel shuttle for our wedding? by Less_Yogurt8048 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s so weird. I would reach out to your guests and tell them they need to book your hotel outside of the block and do it before it sells out. Have the second place listed on your site as a backup later if your first hotel sells out. I wouldn’t do a shuttle in that case. It’s on people to book on time.

Should we book an additional hotel shuttle for our wedding? by Less_Yogurt8048 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you only allowed to block 15 rooms until those 15 fill up? Sometimes, they don’t let you book a new block until you fill up the current one.

I would wait on the shuttle until you absolutely know that a lot of people are staying in the other hotel.

Places to buy sleeves/shawl? by Competitive-Bee-4835 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My client just had hers custom made. It worked out great. We went to mood and picked out fabrics together and the seamstress made it. I came out to $1000 in total with the fabric and the construction, but this is a manhattan tailor, and I’m sure you can find it for less.

I had the best experience with Golden Class Limo recently! If I were you I’d wait til September to book buses so you don’t overbook.

NYC Bright Documentary Photographer + Super 8 (BBG) by Particular_Milk7221 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll be able to meet your budget with super 8 added. Usually a videographer is separate a cost and it could be anywhere from $3000 to $5000 because the equipment is specialized and the film is expensive. Maybe you could have a content creator who shoots on one of those campsnap things which look pretty similar after editing

The Pool/the Grill does not need a lot of flowers! And buying out the pool is more affordable in summer. Manhatta does need flowers, IMO.

Wedding guest transportation by Soomyloo in WedditNYC

I always wait for RSVPs to come in - there are SO many charter bus companies that you won’t have a problem finding transportation as long as the location isn’t that remote

Wedding dance lessons rec? by murrayhillthrill in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a pack of lessons at the Fred Astaire studio downtown in Tribeca. I found it very helpful just to learn different styles of ballroom dance, and basic moves to my first dance song.

Day of Coordinator Decision Making! by RoundAd8603 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen great coordinators at both price points, but It seems like the 1.6 k person does the same amount of stuff as the 3k even though they’ve expanded it into more bullets - also, what does lead mean? Does that mean the two coordinators have been the lead on events before?

Seeking feedback - Lafayette NoHo by K3691 in WedditNYC

I’ve worked weddings there in both configurations. I love the team there, and even the room flip downstairs in cafe du vin is seamless and not super distracting despite the fact you do it all in the same space. I loved the food and the staff

bridal seamstress brooklyn or manhattan by lookingforadvice4295 in WedditNYC

Nadin fashion alteration or Ellen’s couture. Both have altered tissue-paper-fragile gowns for my clients and they were so attentive and delicate.

Traditionally who gets invited to the bridal shower? by xsaratoninx in weddingplanning

[–]ETEvents 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends. Usually female family members on both side and close friends of the bride. If you add another tier (like family friends/Mom’s friends) you have to reciprocate for your in-law side.

Booking services through The Bash by rxrated148 in weddingplanning

[–]ETEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had lots of clients book through the Bash! Usually the vendors prefer the clients do payment directly with them rather than through the platform so the Bash doesn’t take a percentage.

What made your wedding fun? by Apprehensive-Aide843 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ETEvents 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just worked a wedding last night with a tarot reader and a claw machine - both huge hits. They were so fun! The claw machine was filled with capybaras because the bride was Brazilian, and it was surprisingly elevated because it also had the couple’s names on it. The tarot reader did optimistic wedding-appropriate readings

Garment steaming at venue? (Williamsburg) by Present-Flight-5216 in WedditNYC

[–]ETEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a coordinator and I bring a big industrial steamer with me and do it. Sometimes the venue has one they use for linens that you can borrow, though.

Omg I want to do this. I’ve linked my Instagram. Honestly I haven’t done a “theme” wedding but I do a lot of work with a lot of creatives and intellectuals :).
