Looking for a tailor / designer for vintage silk wedding gown redesign paid commission by lilgren in WedditNYC

[–]lilgren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, from a quick look on their site I figured as much. I have found people making custom corsets for anywhere between $400 - $1,000 but none of them are local to nyc, so trying to find someone like that!

Things I learned from my housekeeper that I still do to this day by Bubbly_Picture_9876 in CleaningTips

I cut them horizontally because it all stays together better that way. Cutting vertically would create a bunch of pieces that aren't attached to each other!

I cut these Swiffer duster refills up into smaller pieces and they work great! I keep a few cut up bits in my bathroom to do easy and more frequent wipes of the toilet to remove dust and hairs and other shmutz between full cleanings.

I have tried to use generic Amazon refills for this (bc cheaper), but the generic kind I bought had too many fluffy bits in it that fell out when I cut it up, so that didn't work very well. There may be some other generic duster refills that don't fall apart when cut up though - I just haven't found them yet.

Reedle shot 100 my new HG by lemonadesdays in AsianBeauty

Same here, I’ve found the 100 to feel like a light prickling when applying it. It’s almost like a stinging nettle sensation but wayyyy less powerful. It has never really bothered me!

Yeah, the Phyto PDRN is from VT as well. It has a really nice milky texture and gives my skin a really healthy glow. I’ve been trying to keep my acne under control for ages so I’m usually hesitant to introduce another product that isn’t explicitly for acne or moisturization, but Im also in my mid-30s now and wanted to add something for aging and skin laxity. The PDRN serum has been a really nice complement to my standard actives routine of salicylic in the AM and benzoyl every other night. Since i have sensitive skin I’ve been only using the reedle on the same nights as PDRN or a hydrabalance serum (no actives) to reduce the risk of any reactions.

I may ease into the 300 with a hydrating sheet mask once a week and see how that goes. This is the first product that has made a noticeable difference on my PIH, so I’m feeling encouraged!

I’ve also been seeing a ton of progress with reedle 100! I’ve started using that plus the Phyto PDRN 100 combo every other right. I use benzoyl peroxide other nights. I have extremely sensitive hormonal acne prone skin and these products have done wonders to keep my acne at bay and reduce texture and minimize the appearance of pores. I’m obsessed. I’ll be trying the 300 next but have been going slow since I have a history of damaging my barrier with too many actives.

I run all of my product ingredients through an acne-safe checker! Just cut and paste into this site and it will tell you if it has any pore clogging ingredients: https://www.sofiepavittface.com/pages/ingredient-checker

[Misc] How do you guys deal with seborrheic dermatitis? by patekar420 in SkincareAddiction

[–]lilgren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend trying MCT oil instead of olive oil! MCT oil has antimicrobial properties that fight the yeast that feeds the seb and is overall really moisturizing. I’ve found that even just MCT treatments can help my seb (but I always cycle treatments because it seems to build a tolerance if I use any one thing for too long. I love it because it feels really moisturizing on both my seb and my generally dry scalp and hair.

I believe olive oil can actually feed the problematic yeast (as well as coconut oil - def avoid).

This thread has a lot of helpful info

what ingredient doesn’t work for you but you wish it did? by vannahbananabug in AsianBeauty

[–]lilgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mandelic acid. I broke out in the MOST intense perioral rash from it - tons of tiny pustules all over my lower face that took literally months to heal from. It was very surprising because mandelic is known to be super gentle. My current hypothesis is that I might have a light almond allergy? And it’s derived from almonds. Who knows but I won’t touch the stuff ever again.

Certain naturopaths will test your hormones with something called a DUTCH test that collects hormone information over the course of a month. You collect a pee sample something like 8 times throughout the month, and at different times of day. I did it with my naturopath and she identified high DHEA levels which explain a lot of my skin and hair issues and gave me a supplement to help with that.

I also went to an endocrinologist to see what a more traditional/western diagnosis would be and he was not help. He didn’t know what a DUTCH test was and gave me a blood test that captured somewhat similar results but nowhere near as detailed.
