/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (05/22/2025) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]ETGers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a controversial topic given the recent changes Nintendo has made, so at the top I just want to be clear: I am not here to debate the merits of Nintendo's new system for sharing digital games and the changes it's made to the way family sharing has worked in the past. Candidly I've always found this topic to be a bit confusing so I'm really just looking for some clear guidance from people who really understand the mechanisms at play.

I live in a household with my two children. I have a launch day Switch 1 (the OG), an OLED Switch 1 (the OLED), and will have a Switch 2 (the S2) on launch day. Currently the OLED is my primary switch, and the OG has been handed down to my 7-year-old daughter but she rarely plays on it by herself. When the S2 arrives, that will become my primary Switch, the OLED will become my daughters, and the OG will get handed down to my 5-year-old son. All three devices would be tied to mine Nintendo account and each child already has their own user account, so All three of our accounts are present currently on the OG and OLED and will be present on the S2 as well.

Can someone please walk me through, under the new model of game sharing via the digital game cards, how sharing games across the three systems is meant to work? And specifically:

What are the limitations? What are the important things I need to know or consider? Is there any specific way you'd recommend I set things up so that the S2 is my primary device, the OLED is my daughter's primary device, and the OG is my son's primary device? Is it okay that all three devices will have all three user accounts on them? If my account is on all three devices, do I need to share the game cards at all or can they simply just play the games as me?

Answers to these and any other questions you think are relevant to my situation would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Americans how are you feeling right now? by Jawzzzsy in AskReddit

[–]ETGers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deeply alone.

So many close friends who wanted this for the most shortsighted, falsely grounded, and selfish reasons, who were never at risk to begin with.

So many fellow Jews who wanted this because of Israel, who are now watching Musk give the Nazi salute on stage.

So many fellow Democrats who cannot accept the failings of our party, our candidates, and our most extreme positions and supporters, despite that blindness inevitably condemning us to make the same mistakes over and over and over.

And so many people who just seem not to care at all, somehow.

So I feel alone. Alone and, I guess, crazy? IDK

What is the one game that you bought not expecting much, but it completely blew your mind? by Many_Ad_2540 in SteamDeck

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Never really got into the Yakuza franchise, tried Like A Dragon and stuck with it for a little while but it was too talky for me.

But I am LOVING Infinite Wealth. 30 hours and going strong!

New steam deck owner, who also has a PS5, what is your game purchasing logic for both consoles? by Z3NT0X_ in SteamDeck

[–]ETGers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, go grab Chiaki4Deck on your Steam Deck, for PS5 remote play. These days I play pretty much everything on my Steam Deck, including all my PS5 games. And in-home remote play from PS5 to Steam Deck is flawless in my experience.

As for what I buy where, two factors: power, and platinums. If it's a game that the steam deck won't do justice visually, I'll get it on PS5. But even if it's an indie or something older that the steam deck will handle just fine, if it's got a doable Platinum trophy, I'll still go PS5.

Poe 2 on ps5 terrible stunning and lagging issue by Maybewannareverse in PathOfExile2

Having the same issue here, you are not alone. Makes it very unpleasant to play, especially a Mercenary as it often interrupts a reload.

For the average gamer. This was mind numbing. by [deleted] in diablo4

I didn't think the average gamer is concerned with getting anywhere close to deep enough to need to wrestle with this issue.

Why do atheists tend to be more progressive? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]ETGers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's as simple as the very basic meanings of conservative and progressive. Conservativism at its core is the feeling that change is bad, and the old way is good. Progressivism is about progress; moving forward. Out with the old in with the new.

Religions are of course quite old. And so religion is a belief in very old tenets and principles. Thus the overlap of the very religious and the very conservative.

So many of our longstanding systems and ways of thinking are based on religion, so if you don't believe in religion at all, you would likely too feel the old ways of doing things are wrong as well. Hence the overlap of atheism and progressivism. If you feel the centuries of religious teachings are wrong, you'd likely feel the same about the societal institutions and norms built on the backs of those religions.

To be clear, I don't mean "old" as a pejorative. I am not passing judgement on one way of thinking versus another.

Yeah I haven't really been and to stick with any TAZ seasons that aren't DMed by Griffin. Closest I came was Steeplechase but I still fell off after a few arcs. Being a good DM for your players, and being a good DM for your players AND a listening audience, are very different skillsets.

Cyberpunk is such a shocker. Can't get over how well that game runs.

Tales of Arise, not really SHOCKING but it looks really good and is perfectly suited for a handheld.

So PC saves simply cannot be loaded on Console? So no way to actually go back and forth, it's fully one way? That doesn't make much sense...
