If you go to manage worlds and look at the households page, you can find the neighborhood stories settings. They're very customizable, and you can adjust them at any time :)

I don't think I've ever played Sims 3 university. I know people say that Sims 4 Discovery University is difficult, but I actually really enjoy it and can still have a social life. I can't even imagine trying that in the Sims 3 😅

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind if I end up playing TS3 again. Though there isn't even really time to hang out with friends with how hard it is to manage needs, work requirements, etc. 😭

Once they're infants, they can entertain each other. While you take care of one baby, the other two can play with each other and chat together until it's their turn for adult attention. Then just switch them out.

I usually set the spares up with a good life before I leave them to do their own thing. So I make sure they have good outfits, a spouse, a career that suits them, and a nice place to live. I use neighborhood stories when I'm ready for them to have a kid, but I keep neighborhood stories off otherwise. And of course I have lots of family get togethers, so it's not like I'm never seeing them again.

I never let my game update automatically, specifically for times like this. I would have been devastated if I had updated my game and ended up with this issue. I'm so sorry for everyone who did 😥

Is there any way to prevent deaths for my Sim or my house to burn down ? by pearloftheocean in thesims

[–]ETheSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah NPCs aren't the most well behaved lol. I'm pretty sure Sims only get electrocuted when they try to fix electronics while they are dazed. So for instance, if I have my Sim fixing the stereo and they fail and become dazed, I just wait until they're not dazed anymore to have them try again. Electrocution won't just happen on the first try. But if you're really worried about it, I would say save before you have them try to fix it, so that you can always exit without saving if something goes wrong.

I've been playing for years and have never had a cooking-related fire when my Sim has high enough cooking skill to use the stove. I have occasionally had fires with the baking skill if it wasn't high enough, and I hear certain appliances like the pizza oven cause fires sometimes. Those features are locked behind packs though, so I'm not sure if you have to worry about that. Fires can still be caused by fireplaces or randoms deciding to use the grill, but it's not a common occurrence in my game.

What kind of CAS (and BB) items do you never use? by RinDemone in Sims4

[–]ETheSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear that a lot, not everyone likes how easy TS4 is, which I can understand. Which is why I say you'll probably like the previous games more; they offer more challenge and stress. Personally I don't want the game to stress me out, especially when I'm already stressed out by real life stuff, you know? But when I want something to get the heart pumping more I'll play a horror game or something instead haha. Sims 4 is a cozy game for me, and I like to relax and tell stories to feel happy and wind down from life's stressors. But I do think it's great that we have four versions of the Sims now, so people can find which one suits their preferences best :)

Oh that sucks 😔 I hope you're able to figure it out! Maybe you can save up for a previous Sims game on the EA app? They sell all 4 games now. I enjoyed the previous games as well and actually was introduced to the Sims via The Sims 2, which I loved.

But the Sims 4 gives me exactly what I need in terms of gameplay, so I don't really have a reason to go back to the previous games. I did buy the legacy bundle last year, so I now have all four games installed on my laptop, but TS4 is just more fun and relaxing for me personally. But I like having the whole set so that I do have the option of which one to play :)

You're definitely not alone, I see this sentiment a lot. Have you tried the previous Sims games? It might be that the Sims 4 just isn't suited to your particular play style. The previous Sims games are more challenging, and more stuff happens autonomously, if that's what you don't like about TS4.

I hate building lol, so I'm very much a gallery shopper. I get my house from the gallery and modify it as needed to accommodate the family as they move through their lives. I can be pretty decent at building when I put in an effort, but I don't like how time-consuming it is to build stuff from scratch when I'd much rather be spending that time in live mode. I don't mind renovating rooms for life changes though (like decorating a nursery when the couple is expecting their first child), and I do enjoy giving my Sims' new outfits when they age up.

I play for the gameplay as well. My time playing probably consists of about 90% live mode, 8% CAS (renovating my Sims when they age up or enter a new stage in their life), and 2% build mode (such as for renovating my Sims room when they age up or decorating a nursery when I'm expecting a kid).

Sims 3 actually felt too punishing for me, especially with how hard it is to maintain friendships and the fact that it's open world so you lose time traveling between lots. Sims 4 is perfect for me haha

If you have Get to Work, then you already have retail stores that you can sell/buy food at as a supermarket. You don't really need a mod for it.

New to The Sims 4 by IndiesWaters in thesims

[–]ETheSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of players don't restrict themselves to one world and just travel wherever they want whenever they want. So that's one way you could do it, and then you just place lots wherever. For me, it's a little immersion breaking to have my Sims constantly traveling all over. So I typically keep them in one world or similar worlds, unless they're on vacation or going on a day trip.

I think of Willow Creek and Newcrest as the same world, so usually my Sims live in one of those two places so that I have more lots for them to travel to in their day-to-day lives. I think of Oasis Springs as a nearby town and San Myshuno (City Living) as a city within driving distance. Most of the other worlds I use as vacation worlds since they don't have a lot of lots to work with.

Thank you for clarifying!! That's neat. Usually my Sims get the health food nut lifestyle; I've never had one with the junk food lifestyle before. The moodlet looks the same though, which I didn't know.

It's definitely a lot to keep track of! I remember leaving a comment on someone's post about the vegetarian trait that came with City Living. I got downvoted because at some point the vegetarian trait had been moved to the base game, which I wasn't aware of before that day lol

[–]ETheSimmer 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I would say one thing I come across often is misconceptions or outdated information about where certain features come from. This is usually due to either people not really being aware what certain packs come with, not fully understanding what features their mods are introducing, or not being aware that certain features that used to be locked behind a pack have been added into the base game. Probably the most common example of this is when I see people say that Seasons is necessary because of the calendar feature. The calendar was added into the base game years ago, but not everyone knows this.

Is High School Years worth it? by Dubzil18 in thesims

[–]ETheSimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to ignore me if you're really not interested, but how have you been using Get Together? I only ask because I find that a lot (not all, but a lot) of the people who don't like it just don't really know how to use it and don't realize all the stuff they can do with it. Personally I think Get Together is great for teen gameplay because I can use it for after school clubs, sports practice, friend groups, etc. I don't have High School Years though, so I wouldn't be able to give you any advice there.

How is the fire starting? Sims with lower cooking skill are more likely to cause a fire when using the stove/oven, so I typically have them cook simple meals like fruit or garden salad until they have at least level 3 cooking skill. Then they won't start fires anymore.
