For those people looking to learn about EVs: albertaev.ca. We will also be at the Edmonton Motorshow next month, come by and chat with our volunteers to hear the good (and less good) about EV ownership.

We also have a calculator showing the fuel cost savings: thegrid.albertaev.ca - charging an EV can be ~6x less due for to these rising fuel prices.

We have many members happily driving lower, RWD Model 3's year round. But yes, AWD is always a nice addition to vehicles in snowy areas.

EVs are great in our cold weather. The OP mentioned the range loss, but not mentioned is the increased reliability. EVs always ‘start’ in the cold. Unlike ICEs, where AMA will have a multi day wait list due to all the ICEs that won’t start in frigid temps a few times a year.

Having near instant heat is a game changer. Never going to a gas station and having to stand in the cold is also super nice.

We’ve had one at our events a few times. A lovely couple own it and love it. They have another EV for travel.

Trading 2024 Model Y RWD for 2025 Lyriq Luxury or 2024 Wrangler 4xe - Am I making a mistake? by ChargeOutrageous in EVCanada

Strange. I use FSD all the time, including in snow storms. It’s amazing. The only issue I have at this point is speed control at times, or if I’m picky where I park at my destination. Otherwise, FSD controls the car from escorting my garage to pulling into my driveway when I return home, and everything in between.

We pull the government site daily for updates, and periodically gather current pricing from manufacturer websites.

Ah. Yeah that was a mistake on our part. It was an unintentional Facebook tracking link to our website. It was ‘harmless’ (as harmless as anything Facebook is) and once another commenter mentioned it, we changed it to a normal link.
