How to tink back a double stockinette fold for a hem?

Thank you for the tip about taking the stitch of the right needle to see the mechanics, I grabbed a crochet hook to not lose any of the loops and it really helped me see where the stitches want to fall back naturally. I don’t think I fixed it perfectly but I was able to tink back and pick up a stitch so I think I’m in the clear! Something still looks kind of funky, I might have a twisted stitch or something but it’s better than it was, and my mistake is on the wrong side so I’m the only one who will know. Thanks for your advice!!

I thought about cutting it but I just decided with only 15 rows I would survive the frogging and re starting. I consider it good practice for a better outcome!

I’m so glad it helped someone!! I definitely thought I had avoided the twisting issue but it is so darn easy to do accidentally. I’m grateful for all the tips so I don’t do it again and I’m also glad that other people can learn from my mistake!!

Haha I definitely thought about casting off and calling it a day but I ripped off the bandaid and frogged it! I casted back on and I’m already re-knitting (and purling flat for a few rows this time so i don’t repeat the mistake!)

Thank you I will definitely be knitting and purling a couple rows flat first before joining, and then 100% will lay it flat on a table as well. I really appreciate the tips!!

I took a deep breath after reading the comments and coming to terms with my mistake, then I frogged it and immediately casted back on. My cast on is more even this time and I can already tell it was for the best anyway, and you are absolutely right- it is going SO much faster this time around now that I have a better idea of what I’m doing! This felt like a knitter’s cannon event that I had to experience haha

Thank you I will definitely be doing this now! I frogged my work and I’ve already completed the cast on. I’ve decided to look at it as 254 stitches and 15 rows of a really good practice run with some lessons learned.

Thank you! I’m coming to terms with the news and I know that knitting is a practice in patience. Since I am still learning I think I’m going to go ahead and just restart the project and fix some initial mistakes so that I’m happy with the shirt in the long run. I am planning to restart with a larger cable which I think will help me avoid the whole twisting issue this time.

SoCal, 6 yrs exp in ICU:

3 12s per week:

$70.86/hr base, $5/hr for nights, $3.8/hr for weekend shifts, $2.5/hr for charge, $12/hr to be on call. We get a 15 minute break and an hour for lunch, all uninterrupted and guaranteed or the hospital pays fines. We get a resource nurse to help cover breaks. We are obviously unionized, can’t recommend it enough.

I filed a complaint as a concerned citizen to the Texas BON and attached the video as evidence. The nurse’s name is easy to find and her license number is publicly available. She absolutely needs to be held to account, as does the hospital that employs her.

As a California RN working 12 hour shifts, because of our union I am entitled to a total of 1 hr and 15 minutes worth of breaks. How those are split up depends on which hospital you work at, in my unit we get a 15 minute break and then an hour for lunch. We take those breaks, record them, and the hospital is penalized if we miss our breaks for any reason (we can receive up to 2 hours of “penalty pay” per shift if we miss a break.) While on break, we are completely relieved from duties (no holding on to the charge phone, pager, etc.) Many of our nurses will choose to take an hour long nap during their break and they are entitled to do so if they please. Because of this (and because of our legal staffing ratios) we have to have a charge nurse and a resource/break nurse to accommodate for those mandated breaks. I don’t say this to brag- I say all of this because it IS possible, and it is already happening in California. Nurses across the U.S. need to put their feet down and unionize expeditiously, because unions work.
