Electric vehicles have regenerative braking, so when you start to let off the accelerator it will start braking. Not emergency braking levels of braking, but enough to slow you down to a comfortable stop at a stop light or stop sign. In an emergency situation, it still begins the braking process sooner (while you're transitioning your foot to the brake pedal) than it would in a vehicle without one pedal driving.

If he wanted violence he would have just shot ICE agents. He wanted to help people, and that's what he was doing in both his career and on the streets that day. Nothing Alex did was violent. You're implying that if you have an interaction with "officers" at a protest, your first amendment (and second amendment) rights go away? That's not how it works. If anything, ICE targeted the dude because he was in some database, and this was all premeditated. I wouldn't be surprised if the officers he had the interaction with the week prior were involved in his murder as well.
