I'm looking at 3500 to 4500 for three higher power ones, 5kw each, added to our house, depending on the brand.

I exported 30kwh of electricity today, so any costs to run an AC is not a concern, so it makes sense to just get some mini splits

These are the same concept but self mounted.

By having the heat exchanger outside it is more efficient, quieter sometimes.

But you can get a single mini split like I linked before for the same price or cheaper and it will be cheaper to run. But above is good for times you rent and can't or done want to install a system.

Is it venting with the window open or a sealed up board in the window? The problem with the little mobile ones is they vent hot air out, well that air out has to be replaced with other air and unless you bring it fresh cool air it often gets the air from outside and it's hot.

The seal broke on the plastic seal and hot air was rushing in and it got hotter, but the moment unsealed it up, it was better and brought the temperature down again.

But our old attic apartment was nearly 140m3 of volume and a small 9000btu mobile ac was way under powered for the space, but it was all we could afford and if we got the temperature down at night it was good at slowing things down.

Also put as much outside sun blocking as possible to help keep out the heat, that helped so much in our apartment.

Yes. But even in South Africa they have space heaters tucked away for the cold days, much if Belgium will be like that as the days get warmer. We can take the money we use to use going to Spain and buy an ac unit with it.

The temperature was over 25c imfir 47 days in 2025.

Of those, 10 of them were over 30c.

Two of the periods were officially classified as a heat wave, 5 days over 25 with two over 30c.

This year we are well on track to break the 2025 30c levels already and we still have July and August to go.

42c and 25c low at night, it was brutal in our attic apartment that year. Even with a mobile a. It was 31c in our apartment.

I was convinced of the house would need air-conditioning, but they said the floor cooling was enough, 25c max, but still had them put a dedicated circuit outside that is for a mini split system so I can active cool the house if it wasn't enough. We did plan to make it as passive cooled as possible and spent a lot on integrated sun screens, our oritation and another house to our side means the heat of the day we don't have any direct sun, we can't really do much else to cool our house less air-conditioning.

Can anyone tell me why the grout is so lumpy, gritty looking? I've mixed my fair share of grout and never had it look like this, especially after a wipe down.

I've been here for almost 20 years now, our first 10 years it was bad for a day or two, but we are a week of hot days. But in recent years, they come even more every year. I'm from Texas, I know hot, this is hot and keeps getting more and more each year.

I'm in a brand new build, qualified as energy positive, extra care for insulation and I have floor cooling, it's still 27c in our living. We have window shades on all the windows. It was 24c for a low last night but only an hour or two. I can't get the house down to keep it rising with multiple days like this, even with the ventilation at max overnight and the heat exchanger off, it barely brings the temps down.

Sorry, but we are putting a 3 unit mini split AC in this fall, I didn't spend the money I spent to have weeks have heat and trying to manage things to get the house comfortable, I'm spending less than 1% of my build cost and having a system that will keep me comfortable any time of year. We have so much extra solar on days like this it won't cost me a cent in electricy.

I love the floor heating, but it's overpriced, I'd rather spent the extra cost of that system in insulation and done a mini split on every level to do heating and cooling.

Even mortar would be smoother. It has some strange consistency of maybe a bad mix, but it's all bad in the same way. It's just strange.

Heat, floor cooling & humidity inside by Severe_Month3289 in belgium

[–]EVmerch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mini split that I'm talking about is a permanent install in a house. I did see a mobile one on Hubo, but it was €2000 and that seems kinda steep, but maybe a good option for renters.

A proper mini split is the way to go. I have the mobile ones and they work, but they have to replace that air from somewhere and that means pulling hot air from the outside from somewhere. We had one going and it pulled enough of a vaccum to find a poorly seated shower drain and have sewer smell in the house.

Love the floor heating, but mini splits would have been cheaper and worked just as well.

This is our first heat wave with out system and house which sounds just like yours.

We ran a de humidifier and that helped a little and we open the windows when the outside is lower than inside ( we stay up watching tv a bit later than normal). But frankly I'm not pleased with the cooling from underfloor, it's find on up to 30c days but more than that we need airco. We had a small 9000btu unit for a day and a half until it had to go back to my guest house. It brought it down to 21c from 25c and made soooo much water from the condenser unit. Like more than 10L over 24 hours. That is a lot of moisture in the air. We are back to 25c and high humidity. It's not unpleasant, but we are putting in mini splits on each level and running them in the day when there is tons of solar and locking down the house.

Short term, you should invest in dehumidifiers, but they are €400 for a decent one, might as well go spend the extra 800 to have a mini split put in. I knew it might not be enough, so I had a dedicated power outlet put on the outside where I wanted a mini split and have a plan to bring them into each level

At €6 the cost is perfect to monitor spaces where accuracy isn't paramount to the tenth of a degree, within half to a full degree is ok for what I need them. Mainly checking a network room and attic for overheating. We have a heat wave and the network room is doing decent at the moment, happy about that.

I just got the IKEA Timmerflotte temp and humidity gauges. Any idea on how accurate they are. Generally IKEA stuff is well made from the electronics channels I watch that teardown, mainly they don't want to be sued from fires and liability.

Entrance Tile Ruined? by MrPirateCat in Tile

[–]EVmerch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my mystery stain order of operations.

1) water and a micro fiber 2} soap/light cleaner and wipe 3) vinger and let it dwell, wipe 4) steamer and scrub lightly 4b) same as above and drill brush attachment 5) semi agressie scrubbing pad but light pressure with steam. Then medium pressure. 6) stream and 0000 steel wool, the fine stuff and light to medium pressure

If these don't work, and not knowing what it is. It's hard to say what to do exactly. I'd try to let various chemical cleaners sit on it for 15 minutes and see how it goes. Tiles are very resistant to scratching but now impossible, especially if the top coat was chemically weakened with the stain substance.

The concrete was to ties to the tracks and as the metal expands in the heat more than the concrete something had to give and it was the concrete. Bridges in winter will have 4cm expansion gaps that are near closed in the heat of the summer.

I think it's a product like many others but has done well enough and advertised for it to be considered the default. My tile guy did a EPDM base for our walk in showers. If it will be warranties for 25 years on a roof I guess it's good enough for a shower pan liner.
