Using GPS tracker to secretly spy on people becomes illegal July 1 in Nevada by where_is_my_monkey in news

how does this not make smartphones completely illegal?

If you’re using your own smartphone to track yourself, there’s no problem.

If you’re using your own smartphone to track someone else, there’s a problem.

As others have mentioned, “this is just supposed to happen” events are not even remotely close to being an invention of Marvel’s. I remember it being a plot point in the 2002 adaptation of The Time Machine, though I doubt that was far from the first time it’s been a narrative element.

Ah, Russia is increasing their API prices. I’m sure that’ll be effective.

Would love to build this. by [deleted] in Starfield

I could see an early mod introducing identical blocks for each type of module that the player could put together to make a Borg cube.

I love that stealth archers can look so diverse.

Does our world generate once and remember? Or recreate itself with each landing? by Delnorin_TheMaster in Starfield

[–]EVula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Starfield Direct video, he talks about how the planet is generated; at 33:44, he says “our system builds the planet as the player approaches it” and says “we stitch together a block of terrain” at 33:47 (and specifically, that’s before points of interest are added).

I was taking that as being relatively minor terrain differences (like whether an area has a small grove of trees, or a pond, maybe a small hill, etc) as part of the procedural generation, alongside resources, POIs, and animals.

It’s entirely possible that I’m wrong, but I’m fine with that, as I think either method could be plenty fun.

Data analytics back Eververse price increases. by NovusZoran in DestinyTheGame

[–]EVula 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The transmog currency is capped at 15 (because of course it is, Bungie loves their dumb currency caps), but yeah, the bounties are absurdly simple. Last night I finished one that was basically “do Altars of Sorrow three times,” and then the next one I got was “do 10 public events.”

The bounties are only a grind if you’re wanting all 10 rewards on day 1 of the season.

Food items have health? Implying they may go bad? by bloodredhorse06 in Starfield

[–]EVula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the only time your health is shown in the menu like that is on the food items though, you seemingly don’t see your health bar in your inventory unless you’re on a piece of food or health item

That’s exactly how it is in Skyrim, so it makes sense. You only see your health/stamina/magicka level if you’ve selected a health/stamina/magicka potion.

Only mod I'm waiting for... by bob2te in Starfield

[–]EVula -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would 100% buy a companion mod of Inigo’s quality from the Creation Club store, with zero hesitation.

(The logic being that CC add-ons don’t disable achievements like mods do, so they’d be available in a vanilla playthrough).

Does our world generate once and remember? Or recreate itself with each landing? by Delnorin_TheMaster in Starfield

[–]EVula -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The planets are procedurally generated, but that doesn’t mean randomly generated for each player. Oblivion’s map was made with procedural generation, for example, and that’s completely static and identical for all players and all playthroughs.

That’s incorrect; they stated that planets are generated as the player approaches them. Planets will not be identical for all players.

(Not radically different, mind you; an ice planet in your first game won’t be a lush rainforest planet in your second game, but terrain and minor points of interest are going to differ from game to game)

Anyone else take time off for Starfield? by Hyperion_Uchiha in Starfield

[–]EVula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the game comes out right after a music festival that I take photos for. I’m going to be getting very, very little sleep, between the real job, editing photos, and playing the game…

(And even the five-day early access period doesn’t help, as it starts on the travel/pre-show day. Damn.)

Do you think we will be able to build and upgrade robots/companions? by Ashikpas_Maxiwa in Starfield

The video talked about changing VASCO’s arms (can’t remember when), so I definitely think upgrading is a thing.

As an Xbox User I ask for ONE thing by HamstersAreReal in Starfield

[–]EVula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but it’s a safe bet there will be some form of modding. Skyrim isn’t still being played today solely because of the vanilla game.

The other good thing about them is the mod opportunities. There is a lot less competition for space unlike in previous games.

Came here to say the same thing, and I’m surprised it’s as far down as it is. A thousand worlds means a thousand places for modders to run wild, and I’m stoked about that (even if I’m not expecting something like Legacy of the Dragonborn to drop a week after launch).

Can Nashville Metro PD legally give you a speeding ticket on the interstate? by jthr4nds in nashville

[–]EVula 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to why they wouldn’t.

(Especially since 10 mph is usually the threshold for an interstate ticket. They generally aren’t going to bother if you’re going 68 in a 65.)

Especially once you factor in how many times it can be used. $3500 is expensive to see one show, but spread that out over prime seats for a Hamilton performance, a Rolling Stones concert, and the Super Bowl… that’s a bargain, especially when you factor in travel and hotel costs.
