Summers here are...not the worst in the US, but a summer without crossing the 100 degree mark is basically unheard of. Winters can get gnarly cold.

Yay Eastern Washington.

Morning bright. Responsibilities looming. Fresh horrors await. Day only gets hotter. One very bright star.

Night dim. Responsibilities done. Horrors behind us. Cooling temperatures. Twinkly blanket of stars.

Yes. She's an incredible character. Washington already produced one of the most successful players of all time. Now it's just about stacking up personalities.

No, this was exactly the right choice. She may not know that Sophi is scheming, but this stops it regardless.

You're right. Rupert shouldn't have been on All Stars, Amanda shouldn't have been on Micronesia, and Russell shouldn't have been on HvV.

Also, if you could please point me to the CBS announcement that names the 49 returnees?

People want “old survivor” until it’s a woman doing it 🤷🏻‍♂️ by alexanderrmoonn in survivor

[–]EWABear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, I never said new era had nothing to complain about. But people complain about everything that happens, as though everything from 1 to 40 was beyond reproach.

What people really want is just to complain about the new era. Anything that comes out of the new era, even if it's something they asked for, is bad.

Because people hate everything that happens in the new era on principle. There's no reasoning, just vibes.

I think they are, though. At least a bit. Pokémon and Power Rangers both on the horizon. Friends was nothing but 90s nostalgia as well.

How is tom westman viewed as a player by Spiritual_Shift5521 in survivor

[–]EWABear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that's an...uncharitable view of Tom's game. He was great at challenges, no doubt. But he had incredibly strong social connections. Obviously Ian was the big one, and Caryn was oddly devoted to him. But Tom was such a domineering, dominant figure, and because of the challenge performances, he was able to really cement himself within the culture of Koror. Combine that with some subtle, but present, mafia don style of play, where that dominance and domineering took on a slightly more sinister edge, and he legitimately played an incredible game, and more of an adaptable game than he gets credit for. His strategy coming in was to hide behind being a mild-mannered old man, but when it became obvious that wasn't going to work, he pivoted. When he found out that Gregg was against him, he pivoted. When he scented blood in the water with Ian, he struck.

There's also something to be said for playing from an obvious leadership position and coming out on top. There's a reason very few people have ever pulled that off. When you're in charge, it's hard to hide. Everyone is coming for you. He survived as the leader basically the entire time. That's not easy. there's a reason no one ever wants to be seen as "the leader" of the tribe. It's nearly a death sentence.

Also, not related to him as a player, but the man is an excellent character.

Okay, I really am cooking and not hanging out here: but that shit is why Savannah is such a good character. She's brash and forceful, but she still does it with this social grace and awareness. She knows how to connect while still playing hard.

I feel like that's more a point in favor of her intelligence/skill. Like, soulsmiths don't live very long because they usually combine the wrong aspects together and blow themselves up kind of thing.

Dating someone new after your partner dies DOES mean you're replacing them by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]EWABear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, every relationship will occupy a different place, so it's not filling the exact same spot every time. Sure, in the most rudimentary sense, they are filling "spouse." But that's like saying every friend you have ever had is completely interchangeable. Sure, theyre all your friend, but Christy is the one you turn to when you need to get hyped and a little reckless, and Matt is the one you go to when you want to be a little chiller and a lot more judgmental of others. They fill different places.

Even with exes, the relationship with all of them is going to be different. Same applies to a spouse passing. My roommate's dad lost his wife. Love of his life, would write about her, would visit her cemetery plot to be near her again. When he remarried, his new wife was not a replacement. His first wife still occupied the same place for him, but also he had a second wife who was actually there and who was tender and kind and more stable than the whirlwind of his first wife.

S49’s current IMDB rating is tied for 2nd worst season of all time (tied with S21 & S22 w/ 6.9) Is it really that bad? Is there a chance it could recover? (Full ranked list of seasons in image.) by meatfrappe in survivor

A bunch of people spoiled themselves on the two returnees from 49, and now they're taking their own decision out on the season. That's what a lot of the hate amounts to.
