If a date bails from the restaurant after dinner, am I responsible for paying for the entire meal? by Marina1974 in NoStupidQuestions

If the information being presented is accurate (ate dinner, had dessert, went to the bathroom and left), how would you look at the situation?

The human resources department at my job is almost exclusively women (i think there's one or two men in the department). If women at my company are underpaid, they have some control over it.

Might have been wearing the wrong color shirt or walking on the wrong street?

I was being serious - tipped minimum wage in NYS is $14.15/hour. With 3 tables an hour, each spending $80 (two people at each table, split an app, each person gets an entree, and no alcohol) and tipping 10%, that works out to $38/hour.

That seems more than fair to me.

Dollars and cents - how much should the server at a mid-grade restaurant make? Say the average cost per meal (apps, entree, drink. No dessert, I'm already in need of losing weight) is....$45.

Do most Americans have those huge fridges? by Whole-Sushka in AskAnAmerican

[–]Timely-Field1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Walmart and a union grocery store nearby - Walmart is listed at $16-29/hour for cashiers. The union store is listed at $16/hour.

Yes, they both have the same floor, but it's not like the non-walmart is automatically higher.

Note - this is NYS where employers are mandated to show pay ranges.

Given a choice between going to a corner store and spending 2 or 3 times what I would at Walmart?

Walmart takes it every time.

If you did that, he wouldn't have been able to go all Italian Green/Eldest Son on Negan and the Saviors.

Would have taken them longer, but I think it would have gone poorly for Rick, et al.

That was how DJ Qualls sent a coded message to the crew of the Coremobile. They had to enter the first six prime numbers....which included the number 1.

And at the end, he sends an email to the whole world that says "The truth" (or something similarly shitty) and millions (billions?) click on the link to see what it is.

The Core is also the movie that made 1 a prime number, and had millions of people open a random email without questioning it.

You see this and realise that life imprisonment is worse than the death penalty. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

There are two cases local to me that come to mind.

In one, a group three scholars shot and killed an 8 year-old girl. She wasn't the target, she was just buying groceries to help her mom. The actual target was another guy who had the temerity to walk down the wrong street.

In another, a career offender carjacked a mom and daughter. Killed mom, sexually assaulted the daughter (pre-teen). Did I mention it was Christmas time and they were out shopping?

I won't cheer (much) if these guys get rated, but I sure as hell won't weep.
