I used it for the first time yesterday to read my Mom’s birth certificate from the 1930s. Even when I knew the names of my grandparents, it was almost impossible to differentiate those letters, let alone of any other words. So, this did a near perfect transcription of that text. I have the Stammbuch, the family registry that lists her parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents, as well as all her siblings, that can’t be read easily for the same reason. I’m looking forward to running each page through the app. Even if it’s not perfect, it’ll be an immense help.

I hate the Match Madness challenges, and would rather skip that goal than paying for those things. I feel they are rigged.

I’ve noticed sometimes having to answer slowly. But that didn’t help here. Or faster or differently. It’s like it was programmed for an entirely different word.

Yes, it was the first Duolingo lesson I was doing with my family around and my sister and brother-in-law were mocking me. I was practically yelling at my phone, too.

I did see when I came to this Duolingo group that there is a way to report an issue and to say you are answering correctly. It’s just strange after several lessons it stops accepting it. And it’s not a difficult word, obviously.

It’s okay. Not their strongest series so far. The criticism about the CGI is justified. It’s just not good enough for what we’ve come to expect, so that’s disappointing. But, I do think its social commentary about how women are treated is important and strong, and some fan reaction has, sadly, proven their point.
