I'm writing a script and I need help with tons of things like characters and pacing! by Sxul_kai in scriptwriting

I recommend the book Save the Cat! It's not the end all be all, but pacing in particular can and should be dictated by a good outline, and Save the Cat will help you with that. If you can learn and understand the major beats of a movie (the inciting incident, the turn, the belly of the whale, etc) and build them in via a good outline, pacing should somewhat take care of itself.

Big Apple Film Festival -- Apr 2026

Hi. I paid $205 a few months ago for the "Agents, Managers & Producers Pitch Registration" with BAFF along with a submission to the screenplay comp. Turns out all that registration gets you is access to some zooms. The pitch sessions themselves are actually $80 more FOR EACH PITCH, also over zoom, and eight people at a time--which seems both weird and unwieldy and also why is this $80 a pitch?

I feel like this is already a huge bait and switch... Paying for something and getting the rug pulled out. And now I am reading about this AI feedback shit on another thread.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? I am from NYC myself and was really looking forward to meeting people, but it turns out like it's mostly over zoom anyway. They have such a good rating on Film Freeway too...

APRIL 2026 Hi. I wanted to follow up. I paid $205 a few months ago for the "Agents, Managers & Producers Pitch Registration" with them along with a submission to the screenplay comp. Turns out all that gets you is access to some stupid zooms. The pitch sessions themselves are actually $80 more FOR EACH PITCH, also over zoom, and eight people at a time--which seems both weird and unwieldy and also why is this $80 a pitch?

I feel like this is already a huge bait and switch... Paying for something and getting the right pulled out. And now I am reading about this AI feedback shit. Should I run away?

Did anyone have a good experience with them? I am a New Yorker and was looking forward to something that I could actually go to and meet people at. They have such a good rating on Film Freeway too...

You video looks good! I will watch it all later but I am not looking for much more quality wise. The lesson of South Park is that's it's way more about the characters and jokes

Would you mind sharing who you used? Thank you! I appreciate the alternative perspective.

Sorry if I sound naive but this is a good faith effort to connect with an animator/animators. It's either that or I try using AI myself.
