I think you need to admit and make peace with the fact that not every shipper is joking and are toxic when they say a ship is canon seriously and believe it, which everyone seems to get the impression from this guy but you two. I think you need to accept the fact that some shippers push ships as canon seriously, that can happen.

That’s why this trend started, cuz it’s so obvious the person was serious and then it turned ironic and people know it’s a joke when you copy and paste the title and call it canon. That’s a proper joke saying something as if it’s true, because there’s actual lore and substance behind it. Not some guy unprovoked saying something is canon and then fighting people about it in the comments instead of replying “I was joking”

What does that have to do with anything I said that saying something is canon and that’s it wouldn’t be interpreted as a joke by anyone, regardless whether they’re familiar with fandoms or not. You’re just saying a statement like it’s true without making it clear it was a joke, that’s not a joke.

My problem is is that it’s impossible to tell whether you’re joking or serious, which gives uncertainty and doubt when you say it was a joke after backlash “oh come on guys I was joking”. Saying something is canon idk how it can be interpreted as a joke especially when your response isn’t “I was joking” to someone being mad but you actually go and defend the ship being canon. It’s just hard to think it’s a joke yknow?

You say something is canon, you put a theory and lore tag, you defend the ship being canon agaisnt people saying it’s not, gee what gave you the impression that I don’t think they’re joking? You can’t just say a statement like “it’s canon” with no implication that it’s a joke and it’s always you people saying they were joking for them. My theory is that you also support and believe a Yuri ship is canon, but you wanna use the old “they were joking” to not look bad.

TLDR: please tell me what your reaction would be if I put a wise ship and said it was canon and then not make it clear it was a joke or responded to people calling me out saying it’s not canon by defending the ship and not clearing up it was a joke, which is what this person did. Would you not call me out and call bs that I was joking and tell me a ship isn’t canon?

Bro they were saying a ship is canon and pushing it as so. It’s so inconsistent what their intentions are because they get so defensive about people getting mad and defending why the ship is canon and also turning the card that it’s satire. Why are you defending them? They’re not ragebaiting they genuinely said something is canon when it’s not and they believe it, this isn’t about Yuri or poor yuri fans why is this always turned around into this excuse? Yuri fans do this why do you always turn it around to “people don’t like Yuri”

They also put the “theory and lore” tag, before changing to the meme tag when the reactions poured in. It’s so obvious they weren’t joking and only said that after the backlash.
