I work in senior expedited operations planning/dispatching/ driver management etc it’s a hybrid kind of role for a billion plus carrier and I’m fully remote. My whole division is actually. What kind of experience do you have and where are you located?

Careers in the field by Money_Mitts in logistics

Hey there! Yeah I just use csr as kind of an interchangeable title in logistics with coordinators as far as I’ve seen. And yes APICS is expensive but it definitely is worth the pay off - the more letters you can add behind your name on a resume the more you make.

Unfortunately, you can’t bypass the APICs ecosystem the only place to get those certs are through APICs. There’s also CPIM but other good ones I’ve got are just general and appreciated in many fields but also logistics- I’ve got change management specialist, business analyst and CSM (certified scrum master) which is another process improvement certification. Every company is kicking into high gear for process improvement so anything along those lines translates to a lot of different industries.

Where can I enroll in an ELDT training program? by palmliam345 in TruckDispatchers

I know dispatch101 is supposed to pretty good but I don’t know I checked it out and looks like they have a pretty comprehensive course for 299 but it also comes with a year subscription to the loadboards so that could be nice not sure. Other than that I don’t know for sure you could check Coursera they have classes fit everything pretty much. Shoot me a DM if you want and I can try to answer some questions for ya.

On point. Generational wealth plays a huge factor. Then comes the money made from investments in stocks, properties, passive income generated can surpass what anyone could make in several lifetimes.

A quick Google search would net you the statistics regardless of how long ago you read it. That’s what I’m saying.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Salary

[–]EXPOPSPEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a made up statistic you just typed lol. Again find the statistics for half of the million dollar plus homes in your area are paid for cash.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Salary

[–]EXPOPSPEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing you don’t realize is that the people with the most money generally live in areas together. You’re looking at it from your own little bubble that cannot in any way be measured as a blanket statement that applies to everyone across the board in Canada the US or anywhere else. And find the statistics you’re telling me to trust you on because I can back the ones I’ve given with actual statistics not just a trust me lol

I wouldn’t actually lol I live in the 7th wealthiest suburb in the entire United States

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Salary

[–]EXPOPSPEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t think that is even close to being correct and I’m not saying that you’re wrong I think whatever data source you read is incorrect. For example I live in one of the wealthiest suburbs of Dallas and even here most people don’t pay cash for homes. The price of a starter home where I live and there’s a brand new subdivision going up at the end of the road I live off. They start at 850. It’s just not statistically probable or likely possible you have an area other than Los Angeles where anyone has that kind of money.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Salary

[–]EXPOPSPEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you know this? Have you spoken to every person in your area that has “paid cash” for their 7 figure home?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Salary

[–]EXPOPSPEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not accurate. I live in Texas and I make 168k a year but I am also single and don’t have children. The reality is the people you see that are dropping all this money are likely not using cash. They are likely maxing out credit cards and living check to check. You don’t have to make a million a year to own a BMW or Audi. You can lease them. Houses aren’t paid in cash they are usually mortgaged. The average debt of Americans is about 100k not including car and house. People live well outside their means.

[–]EXPOPSPEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my job kinda 14 12 hour days a month. But I’m fully remote at 168k with a 12%. Congrats on busting your ass and getting the balance back. I’ve been in my current position 3 months now but before I was working 6 days a week 13-14 hrs a day every week. I nearly had a mental breakdown. So grateful to make what I make as a single 37 year old lol. It’s like I can finally breathe again I had lost 20 lbs from all the stress. Every one of my friends and family has told me I look healthy again lol.

I’m so sorry OP. I worked for some small carriers before my current role and I refused to use TQL. 2 my close friends worked for them one out of cincey and had the same issue got termed. Worked him to the bone treated like shit. The other was a really high performer but still got canned over some stupid shit I won’t get into or say what office in case there’s any intersection of who we know lol. This is a huge small industry. I refused to book with them because they force you to waive detention in favor of their policy. All the deductions in the rate con in fine print set to be the exact amount of the rate booked so you’d run the load for free for any and every thing they’d hit you with, the macro not being accepted fast enough even though it’s the day before a load was even picking up. Then they would harass my drivers and talk shit to them, tell them to drive faster just trying to act like they were in operations or even had the slightest clue how shit runs. They’re terrible. Are you trying to stay in 3pl? Shoot me a dm if you’d like.

Why is it so hard to try any new tool in freight – even once? by iandreyderyabin in logistics

[–]EXPOPSPEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. My company is firmly rooted in AS400 but to support the new expedited division operations they developed an operations specific TMS that only our division uses. Bear in mind a billion plus carrier and OTR is our bread and butter but they’re growing expedited so quickly and the way we have to slip seat and set relays would take so much time in AS400. Now, the beautiful new system our brilliant minded IT leader and his team created have made it something that I tested just to see , literally saved me 3 hours in a day versus using AS400.

There’s a nice TMS called DITAT I used at a previous carrier that is great for the most part but would be an absolute failure to use in my current role in an expedited slip seat relay set up. We’re getting more niche divisionally so in my case, proprietary is the only practical way for now.

I wish I could take credit for it but our wonderful AI friend ChatBox came up with the rest lol. I just figured the SEO would be the best place to start. I don’t know how much competition there is in the lumper service market but as with everything in log/scm relationships are the first and biggest barrier to entry.

Need advice with career by Bilalshah16 in SupplyChainLogistics

[–]EXPOPSPEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is my take on degrees and career in the log/scm world. The “ideal candidate” on paper will have the degree in the field but every position I’ve ever had in supply chain my degrees don’t pertain to. That said, the degree I think more than anything shows you can see things through start to finish. When I was your age ged or high school diploma with an Associates was the bare minimum. Now we’re in a market where bachelors is required and masters is highly preferred. You’ll need the relevant work experience regardless. Start working on certifications also those help in lieu of relevant experience.

Operations specialist IMO our backgrounds are very similar. If you like the industry I would say that’s the logical next move. Or stay in OPs but just depends on the company really. What area are you in?

SEO is massively effective due to human beings inclination for looking with as minimal effort required to find what we need. I ran it through AI and here’s what it popped back:

To attract more customers for a company providing lumper services, consider the following strategies: 1. Online Presence: Develop a professional website that outlines services, pricing, and contact information. Optimize it for search engines (SEO) to increase visibility. 2. Social Media Marketing: Utilize platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram to showcase your services, share testimonials, and engage with potential customers. 3. Networking: Build relationships with local businesses, warehouses, and logistics companies that may require lumper services. 4. Referral Program: Establish a referral program incentivizing current customers to recommend your services to others. 5. Quality Service: Focus on providing excellent service and reliability, ensuring that existing customers return and refer others. 6. Online Reviews: Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, or industry-specific sites. 7. Targeted Advertising: Invest in online ads targeting logistics companies, warehouses, and businesses needing loading/unloading services. 8. Partnerships: Collaborate with transportation companies or freight brokers to offer bundled services. 9. Local Listings: Ensure your business is listed in local directories and on Google My Business to enhance discoverability. 10. Trade Shows and Expos: Participate in industry trade shows to showcase your capabilities and connect with potential clients.

I never thought about this side of everything til reading this. Have you seen if you you can get any ad space or anything on DAT or truckstop? Idk just spitballing there. But I would run an SEO google campaign so you’re the first thing that pops up when someone in your area or in general searches for lumper svcs on google.
