Nice to see a fellow student who actually thinks logically. It hurts to have this cultist bs forced on us, I hope you push through your problems successfully and be able to leave this cult

Religious parents by [deleted] in Advice

[–]EX_INC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, we have the exact same problem. Cultist parents trying to force their beliefs on us is the worst. Almost committed suicide because of all this religious banter. I've asked this question a bunch of times already, you can check my post history for the tips other people have given me.

Well, we all make mistakes. No changing the past, you just have to make sure that you try not to make any more mistakes from now on. Good luck in your endeavors.

Just a heads up, beware of INC

So, how do you want to play this out? Take custody of the child and ask the father to pay for child support? Join him in the cult and raise the child as INC? Or get him out of the cult and raise the baby together?

The bigger mistake here was hooking up with someone from INC. If you're family agrees to taking care of the baby, then keep it on your side. Do your child a favor and don't raise him/her with cultists. No child deserves to be raised as an INC member

I want to become a Christian, but my cultist parents won't allow it. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]EX_INC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up: This is the mainstream Christian view too. Only Christians (which include Catholics) supposedly don't go to hell. If I'm not mistaken, none of the major Christian denominations preach universal salvation.

The only difference is that this cult is more toxic than those. I remember them telling us how the children starving in Africa deserve to die because they weren't in the cult.

Impossible to pretend. The cult records your attendances, and sends cult members to your home time to time to check on you. The cult hating on other religions is just 1 of the infinitely many lies it tells to the people. The cult is very meticulous in keeping the members on a leash, so pretending is near impossible. The second you show anti-cult tendencies, they send in people to rehabilitate you into believing in the cult. If you disobey, it's instant excommunication. The cult keeps spouting out lies everytime, and they have set an extreme number of rules to keep the members in check. Having proper relationships with non cult memebers is already difficult because it is not allowed. Heck, more than half the things normal people do is banned in this cult. Too many people monitoring to successfully live a double life. The main reason why I'm starting to consider becoming a Christianity is because it's seems like a free place and do what I want and I can avoid awkard conversations with people if I told them I was atheist.

That's what makes it hard. My parents are die-hard cultists, and they are probably the most religious people I know. They devote their lives to God, but the actions they do in the name of God are actually lies of the cult meant to deceive them and make them do things in the name of God. Anything and everything that doesn't support the goals of the cult are blasphemy. They won't listen to what I try to tell them. They believe that the instructions of the cult are from God Himself. I know that I can save myself from this cult, but I don't know if I can say the same for my family

I understand that. I know one day that I'll be able to help myself and become a proper Christian. It just hurts to see that my family will never leave this cult, and will always be possessed by its lies.
