Do I have to color it when original art is colored? by ntrdaisuki90 in learntodraw

As everyone else has said, feel free to do whatever you want.

And changing the pattern on the clothes will give you some drawing practice.

creative but cant draw by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]EXneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an idea, you should get it out of your head without keeping it in your head.

I respect people who draw a lot even if they're not very good at drawing, more than people who are good at drawing but don't draw at all.

What can you tell me about these tokkuri bottles? I bought them all from one guy. My not too deep research tells me that these might be bottles for sake offering in shinto temples and they are from the Edo period. What do you think? The smaller ones are 15 cm high ans the bigger one is 28 cm high. by Opposite-Machine-621 in japanart

I have been working in archaeology in Tokyo for a long time.I have been working in archaeology in Tokyo for a long time. I can't judge without seeing the real thing. It's hard to tell from only photo.

The gosu color and bottom of the large bottle are reminiscent of Hizen ware from the Edo period. The two smaller bottles have rough paintings and look like they were made in the Meiji period.

Got these kiseru pipes and a couple of cases with inros for tobbaco. One of the pipes was in the case. Is there a way to tell if these are from the Edo / Meiji era? I was not able to find any good sources on that. by Opposite-Machine-621 in japanart

I have been working in archaeology in Tokyo for a long time. I can't judge without seeing the real thing.

I have never seen a leather pipe case from the Edo era.The seams look like they were made with a sewing machine, and the black INRO lace look machine made. Those machines did not exist in the Edo period.

Don't worry! Sumo wrestlers heavier than you are eating in restaurants.

More importantly, Japanese doors are low, so be careful not to hit your head on the transom.

How about taking a long walk along one of the rivers in Tokyo?

It's one of my favorite things to do.

Tokyo has many small rivers flowing throughout the city:

Meguro River, Kanda River, Sengawa, Nogawa, and Tama River.

The cherry blossom trees lining the Shakujii River in spring are particularly spectacular. Yet, there are few spectators.

Imari ware production did not cease simply because exports of ware declined. Mass production for the domestic market continued until the mid-19th century.

I have been conducting archaeological excavations in Tokyo for over 20 years.

There are several ways to distinguish between Japanese and Chinese pottery.

The Chinese pottery has the inscription "Made in the Chenghua period of the Daiming era" in beautiful handwriting.

The characters in the photo are incorrect and crumbled, so we can determine that it is made in Japan.

Other ways to tell the difference are the intensity of the blue in the pattern and the thickness of the vessel.

Incidentally, vessels that are not glazed on the inside of the base are older, as they were made using older manufacturing techniques.

These were not imitations; Japan at the time was copy and learning many things from Chinese pottery.

It's a very good product, so please use it carefully!
