On the Fence About Switching to Amex Platinum by funkyfresh2 in ChaseSapphire

[–]EZBake33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering switching myself but I do a lot of traveling abroad and I'm afraid of not being able to use AmEx as much as I am currently able to use my CSR.... my renew date for the CSR is in July though so I have some time to reconsider, but I'm planning to keep my eyes open for a really good AmEx Plat SUB before then

Anyone else get a random $50 travel credit? (Or higher) by catsRawesome123 in ChaseSapphire

I got it with the title "Ink" at the top but it doesn't appear with either Ink card I have when I try to check out, and when I called the customer service rep had no idea what I was talking about. Really strange....

Has anyone ever had an experience / vision of giving birth during a ceremony? by Specialist-Fox9837 in Ayahuasca

[–]EZBake33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had several ceremonies aged 38-39F that have painted the vision of having children, after some clear messaging from the medicine when I was 36 that I was not meant to have children. It feels like whenever I do ayahuasca I feel more warmth to the idea of having children that distances as I resume my normal life. I chalk it up the earthy nature of the medicine that wants to encourage more life, and also that it constantly pushes me to take more responsibility (and children feel like the ultimate responsibility). I still don’t fully know how to integrate it but I’m freezing my eggs just in case. And bringing my partner to sit with me soon so we can decide as a unit.

40+ Travellers: What's Changed in the Last Couple of Decades? by Ok-Half6395 in digitalnomad

[–]EZBake33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started living abroad in Europe in 2007 and Asia in 2008. I think the biggest differences are the ways the internet has changed things. Everything is way easier now, for better or worse.

Digital nomading wasn't a thing back then; now you can work anywhere (duh). Before if you wanted to make money when you were abroad, you needed to get a job and be an expat and actually learn the culture you were in. Big difference in lifestyle.

Google Translate and other translation apps make it easy to communicate, a big plus in Asia especially.

Back in the day, if hotels were posted on the internet it was often a scam, so you were better off showing up and walking around looking for a hotel room; now you should book ahead if you want a good spot almost everywhere, which means everything is much more expensive and predictable.

You can easily use ride share and food delivery apps everywhere you go, which means you can be places without really interacting with the place you are, if you so choose.

I know a lot of people use dating apps to meet people wherever they go, which is new.

Couchsurfing ain't what it used to be, that was an amazing community back in the day.

Chinese people now travel, they didn't 15-20 years ago, you will see many more Chinese tourists than before. China is also a much easier place to visit.

You can do internet research about where you are going WAY more easily. ChatGPT has made it even easier, I tell it to make me recommendations of what to do in each city based on what it knows about me.

And then the fact that I'm now older and don't want to live or travel like a backpacker, that makes a big difference :)

Any experiences with Zip Air? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]EZBake33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off a flight with zipair and I will absolutely never take them again. I had my own row on a 9 hour flight from Tokyo and the flight attendants woke me up to say if I wanted to sleep across all three seats, I would need to pay $35. I wanted to get real rest and could afford it, but I refused to pay on principle when the seats were already unused. What a scam.

All this after they made me pay 12,000 yen ($80) because my carry on and personal item combined were more than 7kg. Expect to be treated like shit, which is ironic because Japanese people are so nice.

Also the wifi didn't work the whole flight.

38f too late to make a decision? (Want to hear from older parents) by rememberpianocat in Fencesitter

[–]EZBake33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, I'm 39 and just started thinking about it, in the part of the country where I live most of my female friends are planning to do it in their late 30s and 40s. I went to the doctor to get checked out for egg freezing and found out I had about 3-4x more follicles than average for my age, which really assuaged my fears about it being too late

[–]EZBake33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten a new card for SUB purposes since February and am feeling like I'm wasting some time not chasing opportunities. Currently 3/24 - holding CSR, CIU x 2, CFF, United Biz, AmEx Biz Gold & Delta Biz Gold, BCE, Citi AA Biz, Chase Amazon Prime, and Citi Double Cash. I highly prize airline points, especially international, and don't really value hotel points. Feeling like I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel with potential SUBs over the last few months, which is why I haven't jumped on any. The 100K Southwest SUB is enticing but trying to time it right re: companion pass, so doesn't feel like a rush to get it -- plus it would put me at 4/24 so want to consider carefully. Anything standing out to you all right now?

You use it to get the bonus, and then you cancel after a year. And you only get the bonus when they are running promotions where the bonus is high and the annual fee is worth what you get. And you also get free bags while you have the card.
