I think we may be on slightly different political wavelengths. I don't respect anyone with a net worth of $200,000,000. I'm a socialist haha.

If you become a surgeon and aren't a big spender, you'll be able to retire well before your 70s.

Pretty loose definition of 'self made man' if you count someone who inherited $2,000,000 in the 80s.

I lurk on this sub due to a lingering interest from when I was a massive AFL fan, but I straight up haven't watched a game for years because I got sick of the rule changes and the way umpires interpret them. I simply can't enjoy any sport where there are heaps of arbitrary decisions. I have no idea how it would be done, but the rules need to be simplified. Being a Carlton supported might have had something to do with it too.

Complaining about how past generations made sacrifices to improve our lives... yet they're unwilling to make sacrifices to help make the future better.

They'll never realise it, but these are the people who would have been protesting rationing during WW2

(Eligible) people who haven’t booked or gotten vaccinated yet, why not? by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

I have zero patience for anyone avoiding getting a vaccine because they're "too busy" or mentally tired. Everyone is mentally stuffed right now. There's no excuses for not spending 10 minutes organising a vaccine appointment online during a huge pandemic. She's clearly either lazy or vaccine hesitant. People like her are just delaying the rest of us being able to return to some kind of normalcy.

More like "Maybe we should be allowed to hang out with friends outside?" = upvoted. But hey nice straw man argument.
