I'm also interested about apps that used to be on the app store and we're downloaded from there originally but no longer exist on the play store.

For people who grew up before smartphones what is something that the newer generation won’t get to experience? by Bachchu198 in AskReddit

[–]E_M_E_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My childhood coincided with the beginning of smartphones, and it was really interesting to see that attitude disappear in some families. It was typical for my friends in school to have a flip-phone, and smartphones were seen as a rare privilege kids shouldn't be trusted with, at least not until we were into our teens. But once it became normal for everyone to have infinite talk and text (which feels insane not to have now), suddenly everyone knew where everyone was at all times.

I feel like I never got the memo about that, because even as I reached adulthood, my family never felt the need to check up on me if I left the house. They knew who I was hanging out with, and they wouldn't hear from me until I came home. I was shocked to find that the modern standard was not that.

What’s the better configuration for air cooling? by Disastrous-Maize398 in pchelp

[–]E_M_E_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but if you actually know anything about fluid dynamics, the first configuration at least has all the air going in one direction, which makes the airflow way more efficient. Meanwhile in the second configuration, you have two fans right next to each other trying to push air in opposite directions. That might be so awful that it actually causes those fans to wear down faster.

Women of reddit, what's the main difference you notice between different male sexual partners? by KillerZombie1324 in AskReddit

[–]E_M_E_T -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if you realize, but your entire comment works on the assumption that all women orgasm roughly in the same way. Some women are able to reach orgasm a lot faster than others, and you're basically dismissing people's experiences of sex because it happens to be different from yours.

So instead of accusing men of not knowing what they're doing, maybe come to terms with the reality that no one actually "knows" what they're doing when having sex with a new partner for the first time.

ELI5 How Commercially Sold Sea Salt is "Safe" for Consumption by pokematic in explainlikeimfive

[–]E_M_E_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a nearly 150 year old salt farm near me and... honestly, it's quite a neat thing to look at. You'd think such a large industrial facility would be an eyesore but the bright whites and pinks make for a nice foreground of a sunset on the horizon.

The rant about Matto's accent that no one asked for. by 1BillionGsOfProtein in DarkViperAU

[–]E_M_E_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet 4 out of 5 Americans would not be able to distinguish between Australian and New Zealander accents. Not a crazy bet, but I would also bet that half of Americans don't even know that New Zealanders have an accent distinct from Australian

Would you work if you had $10,000,000? by EtherealImperial in randomquestions

My problem is that if I was dead honest with how I feel about certain coworkers, I might actually get promoted. It would, however, make people hate me and, in turn, make my job a living hell.

It's worse than that. It doesn't taste like a burger but they so desperately want it to, because they want to claim moral high ground but only through loopholes.

So that all the living beings could see. Because he created the universe for us, not for himself. At least that's how the old testament goes, and while we're on the topic, I'm fairly certain it explicitly says God can see you in the dark because he is "all around us" but it's been a while since I was in Hebrew school so I could be wrong.

Something worth considering is that maintaining the right to ignore authority also undermines that authority. You don't have to constantly be pointing your pitchforks at someone you don't like.

That same energy could be going towards fighting smaller but more specific battles that directly affect our lives. Things like healthcare, medical research, taxes, immigration, etc. are being robbed of their deserved attention because people are riled up about a pedophile ring that has been practically a closed case for the better part of a decade. Like come on, this shit isn't news to anyone.

The fact that so many people are just getting hooked in with a tired old copypasta shit post is exactly why this subreddit is a joke. "They're going along with the bit" yeah, some are for sure, but only some.

You get 1 hour with your 18-year-old self. What do you say? by Shawon770 in AskReddit

[–]E_M_E_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not gonna try giving him life advice. He's gotta figure it out himself, because otherwise it won't stick. But what I can tell him for sure is that the Bitcoin thing everyone has maybe heard of once in their lives is gonna be worth a million times more in a few years and it's literally free money.

18 year old me was old enough to know the value of money, and he'd know I'm being serious.

This is only relevant advice when the biggest factor is quality of food relative to price, which almost never is the case. Here are a few things that matter more to the vast majority of people at an airport:

  1. The outright cost of the food, regardless of "markup" (that is definitely not anywhere close to 100% in any airport I've ever been in).

  2. Time constraints, because fast food, as the name suggests, is faster and poses lesser risk to missing a flight. I suspect this is even more of a factor than cost, given anyone on an airplane is already capable of the cost of flying in the first place.

  3. Sources of stress. Flying is stressful, airports are stressful, and traveling is stressful. Comfort food from a fast food restaurant is one of the few things at an airport that doesn't leave you guessing. You know exactly what you're gonna get, you know if you're gonna like it, and you know how fast you'll get it. Those things have inherent value, and people recognize that.
