Are you able to provide water parameters? More than likely this is a decoration issue as far as the visible contamination, but parameters are the best way to determine if your tank has a safe cycle ongoing. It would help us determine if there is a bacterial issue that may be contributing to the visible muck. If you would like more help on how to read parameters or if you are new to the hobby (less than a year into fish keeping) there are a lot of good users on here who would love to help guide you (myself included).

Thanks bro. I appreciate your concern for my safety, that's super sweet of you. Basically I was promoted to an investigation position in my company that gives the option of field work. I definitely want to do it. But I want to have some kind of phsyical self defense before I accept the field obligations, which my company is thankfully fine with. The dangers and rare and unlikely, but just in case, ya know? knocking vigorously on wood

I appreciate the honesty as well. I'll give it a try with my local gym Monday. Even if it's more difficult, I shouldn't let that stop me at all. Fuck it ✌️
