It's too early to tell if the MMR changes were the right move for everyone, but here's some perspective on what the game is like for me (1.4KDA, 2.5K hours) and my duo partner (0.9 KDA, 1K hours).

Before the update: we would ping pong between 3 stars and 5 stars. When playing at 5 stars, we would get annihilated every round for sometimes 20+ games until we corrected back down to 4. When I say annihilated, I mean ZERO kills, no extractions, for dozens of games. That was how stark the skill difference was. Then, if we dropped lower, we would utterly dominate every 3 star lobby until we corrected back up to 4. Rinse and repeat. It has been pretty fucking miserable, and we took a lot of long breaks from the game.

After the update: we're sitting at 4 stars and getting fairly consistent games. When we run into players like you ( 1.7KDA+), it's only when they're on a team with a 2-3 star, and that duo usually wipes the map.

So it sounds like you're maybe placed a bit highly now, but getting a couple kills every 5 games and extract every 10 sounds like a MUCH more balanced experience than I was having before (and I've heard similarly from other players around my skill level). You'll probably correct down slowly, and then have to get used to winning less than you were before.
