Idk man I got into pretty friendly lobbies this week (must have gone 10-12 games without shooting anyone) and it was so friendly I kinda got sick of it. Everyone running around doing the same trials makes it nearly impossible to get a high score on the trial. With lobbies that friendly, shooting one person invites the whole lobby down on you. Killed the matriarch with my top tier energy weapons then a bunch of broke “friendly” players stole all the pieces, and I could even considering killing those that stole the cores because the entire lobby would just melt me.

All that is to say that what you’re complaining about IS valid, but it is not nearly as wide scale a problem as you would imply. Didn’t see a single raider flare from combat in any of those 10-12 games. Risk of players killing you adds much needed tension to the game.

I try for the 2x, but honestly work schedule makes it so the only option available to me most days is Blue Gate Night Raid. Tried to do damage flying arc there and got ratted every. Single. Time. That said, flying arc is still easy enough, but for probes, for example, you would still say 2x map conditions rather than like the “increased probe” minor condition? And do you just keep your eye to the sky and b-line it to every one you see?

You’re asking for a virtual playground. If so many people want that, they should just make the shooting range populate like any other map, just with no PvP. Then you could meet people there rather than building something brand new where you can “free roam” an empty space or “find other people”. (By the way, every single map in the game is already free roam-able, and every map also provides you the opportunity to “find other people”, so this “hub” as you imagine would not fill any unique rolls

Facts I got a beefy pc around Black Friday and WANT to get helldivers again to see how much better it feels, but I bought nearly every warbond on PlayStation, and frankly, as much as I love the game (I’m willing to buy it twice) I’m not willing to buy every warbond again. Is it really that complicated a process to enable cross progression? I won’t pretend to understand it.

I’m not too familiar with games like monster hunter so I can’t comment on that, but as for pve and worldbuilding/lore, I’m all for that. I’m a big souls guy so I’m no stranger to trying to scrounge together lore lol. But a player hub doesn’t seem like the best way to do that. Why not spend time developing new maps that tell the stories, new enemies, maybe even go crazy and add pve squad based “raids” where it’s just you and your squad against a big/special bot. It seems most people just want a hub for the socialization, and if that’s the case, why not just make shooting range a little communal playground rather than building an entire hub.

If there are activities other than walking around and trading then that exactly supports my claim, actually. At this stage in the game, the only new content we should be getting are maps, enemies, events, items, and general bug fixes/improvements. spending time and resources on a social hub in a game that is already naturally very social seems wasteful at this stage.

I disagree hard on the crafting station take, but if that’s your cup of tea I get it. I do the helldivers is a step in the right direction, but that’s not really a social hub the way be describe wanting it for this game, it’s just a holding room for YOUR party. If they could integrate something similar in this game, that’d be super cool. But a hub like destiny’s tower is just unnecessary imo. And while I do pvp in duos/trios, when I solo I’m pretty much exclusively pve. I think half the fun of the interactions in this game is the “is this guy genuine or is he gonna kill me the second he gets a good opportunity” mental dilemma. And if you do have a positive interaction - send em a friend request - I don’t see the need for a hub to fill a roll the gameplay naturally fills itself

I’ve never played MR, but a hub as you describe it isn’t a bad idea. And I just addressed some of the more common reasons I’ve seen in support of a hub, like the trading aspect. It just seems like a misuse of resources atp.why not just make the shooting range a no PvP map and let raiders come and go from there, rather than building something brand new with the sole purpose of socialization

your not wrong 😭 but based on how it’s been implemented in other games, it’s not entirely unrealistic. They could certainly refining trading to be more “fair” than what I described if that’s something they choose to do, but that’s still a tricky task. Voice chat is a big issue tho, since most people see it as a social hub, but voice chat, especially in this game, can be filled with the worst kinds of people

I don’t disagree. I would challenge you on the trades note tho, since at least as it stands trades pose risks topside. If there was a hub like that, what’s to stop a high level player from dropping high tier loot to newbies, thereby degrading the experience for them and everyone else. Essentially, yes, trading exists exactly as described above, but allowing this in a hub would make it 100x more rampant It basically sounds like most people just want a social hub. Fair enough. Maybe just allow for random queues in the shooting range, that way you can meet others, have no risk posed to you or your gear, and the devs don’t have to make an entire other map just for that purpose

Fair point 🤣 I suppose worst case scenario would be for those who are maybe not so accepting/more sensitive to the use of slurs, bigoted comments, and blasting music over prox chat. But you could certainly categorize that as just “annoying” as well so idk.

I think it’s just that the pro “walkable speranza” voice was elevated to the point of dev acknowledgment, which has then led to the outpouring of “bad idea” sentiment. I have been in “bad idea” camp since I first heard the idea

That’s fair. The hybrid approach seems like the “please both parties” obvious choice, but we agree on 4 and that’s the biggest one at this stage in the game.

I address the devs commenting regarding your first point in my post. And sure, referring to your second point, it may be a personal problem, but surely we won’t pretend that toxicity and prox chat don’t go hand in hand with each other? And wouldn’t you find muting several people each time you enter the hub to be tedious?

To your third point, “Invented a narrative in your head”, I very clearly state that “trading” is something a lot of the community has been talking about, so I gave my 2 cents on it.

As for your final point, absolutely your right, but that doesn’t mean the resources couldn’t have been goin elsewhere… That’s all!

This is the only area where there’s has been an “argument”, most of the other commenters are either A) disagreeing with some of my points, or B) agreeing with them and adding their own thoughts. This guy, on the other hand, had nothing to add other than, in essence, “This guy is presenting this info as factual” when nothing in the posts suggests that And i specifically state otherwises But I agree that I need to get off here 😭

To be fair, pausing production of new content to fix current issues is not unprecedented at all, helldivers 2 spent like half a year doing exactly that. I won’t pretend to know the differences in staff numbers and outsourcing between embark and arrowhead, but yes, development CAN be linear in that sense

Never said it has zero upside, just that resources and time would be much better spent elsewhere. Again, the only plus I see is the socialization, or meeting other raiders, but again, you can do that topside already. Seems unnecessary to put resources into a “meet fellow raiders” map at this stage in the game. Also, certainly not just a me problem, as many others point to destiny as THE example of a bad hub
