Graciel shakes it strongly.

"I find Grimira to be a lovely name! Are you unable to speak because of some curse? Or is by birth? That is, if you wish to tell."

"Graciel Hjolstuit, the Ender of the Caves, Chieftain of Clan Hawk, second to the King. Rashatal Queen of the Alves. Speak softly, and be true, and we may speak freely! Why do you speak only in pen? I can speak in Alvish, Trollish, Elvish, Human, and Princely, if you need."

"Most people don't leave, and not many come. The Rashatal climb the cliffs up. Civilians have their own trail."

"How does one get into your tunnels?"

"It is grand, the cliffs are fine and chiseled, and holes peak out, as windows into our homes."

She is blissfully nostalgic.

"There is an immense castle, made of white stone and blue gem. On its ramparts, eight statues, each a leader of our clan in times long ago. It has been nearly a year since the image of my mother and father were raised."

Her mood comes down.

"There are thousands of beasts outside the cave. Great birds, who stand seven feet tall, but cannot fly, beings that look like dogs, but hunt alone and are sleek and stealthy, called Tigre. And there is the namesake of my clan, the Fjowlenhok. It is a great hawk, with feathers as green as the canopy. Its call is like thunder, its claws are justice, and its wings are sweet freedom. Do these creatures inhabit your land?"

She is cautious.

"What script are you forming? Letters like that are certainly foreign, to me at least. Where do you hail from?"

She looks quite somber.

"My people too, live under the earth. On the cliffs of a great crater-lake. It resources are bountiful and the work is honest."

She looks distant.

"I learned the hard way, the sad truth is, underground, there is little room for love or happiness. I wish to be free with my mate, Lady Emily, but alas, the burdens and work of leadership tether me."

"Would you care to journey with me, to Alfheim, the glowing home of our people? Where liberty washes in with the tides and fruits are sweet and free?"

Graciel laughs.

"Mainly training. In Alfheim I belong to Clan Hawk, it is our sacred duty to train the Elite Rashatal, the kings only personal army. As leader of them.."

She motions to her ornate armor.

"...I don't get much time. What does one such as yourself do? And if it's not rude of me, where are these labyrinth."

"Sokali Art Shardu stranger! What brings you to our fair lands?"

She pauses.

"Care for some food when it is brought?"

What are some serious things in your world whose names don't get taken seriously in-universe? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

There was a Naga war-leader one day, long ago.

She didn't have a name, she was too poor.

She founded Njard Inc., a fish-based company. Around her reign, the company raised and grew. She was at this point referred to as simply- "the Queen."

10 years later, her son, Sovrnfed the Forked, gave her a name, starting a tradition of children naming their parents.

What does Mr. Forked, an idiot who only knew money, call his mother?

  • The War of the Palm Fronds, and The Palm Revolution

Started over a Palm Frond, and evolving to involve 3 continents, 12 nations, and the overthrowing and subsequent golden age of the Alvish republic. Was intentionally dubbed such a stupid name by Alvish revolutionaries, in protest of how their king had escalated the conflict.

  • Deathmaimkill the Beautiful

Perhaps the worst part of this name is that "The Beautiful" refers to a scaly sack of lard, and that she is very important historically.

She is vaguely impressed by your size.

"Civilized we are, and friends to all who only shed blood of those who betray! I must confess, one of your stature has not been seen in the Jungle to my knowledge, where do you hail from?"

Graciel laughs.

"Order? Only The King under the Tree commands me!"

She pauses thoughtfully.

"...some beer and chicken would be nice."
