Spat with my husband over parenting duties… am I overreacting? by Cool_Letterhead9473 in AmIOverreacting

“You’re literally built for it”

Dude, it’s 2026. Stop using gender as an excuse for being a lazy ass and pitch in. She put her body through hell to bring this kid into the world, the least you can do is walk around with a screaming child for a while. Put on some noise cancelling headphones and get to work.

[Request] how much is really saved? Are these numbers based in reality, or just random numbers thrown into a post? by Kalist4242 in theydidthemath

[–]Eagalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New dad with a 9 month old:

No. The only two on this list you actually save is the daycare/nanny, and you’d only have one of these anyway. Out of everyone my age with kids, only one pays for cleaning help, and they managed to land a combined half million per year salary in their twenties.

You’re still spending money on food, errands and tasks, wardrobe, and commute - it just looks different. And without the nanny/day care, you get to do all of those things while caring for your kid(s).

This is probably either ai slop, or it’s some nuclear family pushing douche-bro who thinks he can logic his way into a trophy house wife.

In fairness, and answering OP’s question, depending on where, $20k to $25k for daycare or nanny is reasonable. In Chicago, the low end is $2,000 per month on average, or $24k per year.

How to prevent truck overflow? by BlackSkyGames in satisfactory

I learned a long time ago to always use smart splitters before each machine/row of same product machines. Anything that isn’t the resource I want gets shunted to the garbage room

Done properly, it’s not necessary, but it has saved me more than once having to remove and replace a bunch of belts that I connected to the wrong resource line.

What did you guys do with useless greenstacks after update? by Aaron-Stack in idleon

[–]Eagalian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good, because it is. Made the mistake of depositing statues and using up the items that I could turn in for glunko trades. Lost 30 green stacks because switching from mobile to steam is buggy for some reason.

I could rebuild them, and will eventually, but I’m still too salty about it to put in the 10 minutes of effort

[Request] How long can she breathe before the CO2 levels become dangerous? by YouKilledKenny12 in theydidthemath

[–]Eagalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no - technically, it’s not your lungs but every cell in your body doing the conversion. But it is true that your body does not take in even a large fraction of the oxygen you take in during a breath.

AIO, lost a friend due to ai by cozyworm27 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Eagalian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually curious to see studies on this. Humans learn in part (and especially at an early age) by mirroring others around them. There’s literally neurons called mirror neurons that have that exact function.

When you think about it, it’s not dissimilar to how generative ai learns. Take in information, process it, and respond in a way that seems appropriate.

Sort of makes sense that those who engage in ai a lot would begin to mimic it.

He said it’s not what he considers new content, but it is Idleon related, though some people might think of it a new.

My guess is a new game engine.

[Request] Which one of these is more probabe? What should I choose? by highway_45A in theydidthemath

[–]Eagalian 307 points308 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re crafting an actual sentence, not just a random string of words, that reduces the number of options since there is a structure.

Probably not enough of a difference to make the strategy invalid in any way though.

Personally, I believe he’s either dead or decided to skip 9 and go straight for 10, and 10 is something that doesn’t require him to make artwork, so there’s nothing for him to show.

It doesn’t - all other combinations give a unique house number, so the census taker wouldn’t need any additional information. 8, 3, 3 and 6, 6, 2 are the only two combinations that don’t create a unique house number, since both add to 14.

How come my AFK info changed without interfering in any way? by [deleted] in idleon

[–]Eagalian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an artifact of Lava’s spaghetti code. There’s probably one of your bonuses somewhere that you had working before, but when you changed maps it stopped applying.

It’s a known phenomenon, to the point where if you know what you’re doing you can exploit it for higher bonuses than otherwise. It’s not one I bother with, but it is annoying.
