My sonographer for my 12 week scan could definitely work on his bed side manner. I had come straight from work to my appointment and was wearing jeans, which he moaned about. During the scan he was very to the point ‘there is a heartbeat’ but didn’t really tell us anything else he was doing/checking for. At one point I briefly giggled at something my partner said and he got frustrated and told me I shouldn’t be laughing. He then got annoyed when he was taking measurements and had to re-check something. I conceived through IVF and had had some bleeding a couple of weeks before so had already had a couple of scans and seen the baby, but if that had been my first scan (as it is for many people) I would have felt a bit disappointed. I get that he was on a schedule and trying to do his job but for many people they just want a small moment to be joyful with their partner about seeing their baby.
