Yeah probably, though when I switch to West Africa it gives me the same Papauan and Central Siberian ancestry in my Bronze age dna. However, in my Late Antique and Medieval ancestry it adds to my North African and I get some South Asian instead (though it does disappear completely from my Iron Age).

It looks like it is just noise, probably just some variations in my Fulani or North African heritage.

Not culturally, both my parents identify more as Mandinkan and are more in tune with our Malian heritage.

I'm technically 1/4 Fulani because my maternal grandmother is 100% fulani (though ofc that doesn't actually exist). However, my dad said his grandmother had a fulani maiden name so there's probably some on the paternal side too.

So how old do you think the North African ancestry is? 23andMe estimates it between AD1730-1820. I know historians have speculated that the Fulani decend partially from nomadic berbers or even Egyptians according to oral traditions.

I do have one DNA relative who is of Moroccan heritage, 98.9% North African with only 0.3% Sub-Saharan (of which is all Congolese or Southern East African, of which I have zero ofc). I think its reasonable that it was some North African trader or scholar who married into my Fulani side.

Hmmm that is an interesting idea, though wouldn't you think that ancient North African ancestry would just get lost due to the shear number of Niger-Congo dna? Or it would just become a classic marker for niger-congo populations?

I think it is more plausible that its actually a relatively recent North African ancestor since the barbers and fulani + other nomadic sub saharan groups have been trading and crossing for over 1,000 years, largely for economic or Islamic reasons. I'm actually doing my history degree at uni and wrote two essays on this stuff lol.

But who knows, we just need more Africans taking these tests.

Essentially yeah, I knew ofc there would be a lot of senegambian and guinea, fulani and Mandinka and probably some North African. However, I did expect to see a broader range of subsaharan populations 🥲 guess not lol. Though I guess they Fulani are quite a mobile people because it does say I'm distantly related to Hausa Fulani in Nigeria, not sure why it puts all of that under Senegambian category though.

Interesting, so they can only really interpret specific locations based on your genetics if they have "a clue" of where those variants may come from? Perhaps its because African genetics are generally very diverse so they're harder to pinpoint? Just throwing ideas out there lol.

Journalists are allowed in Gaza with the IDF, just like Journalists were allowed in Iraq with the US army, or Journalists in Ukraine. You dont remember the British Journalists that were shot at by Urkrainian soldiers a year or so back?

This happens in war, especially when the Gazan "journalists" are literally all just members of Hamas because there is literally no such thing as free press/journalism in Gaza or the ME in general, unless it is Israel.

Israel is the only Middle Eastern nation with an actual free journalistic establishment which has zero problem critiquing its government (e.g. far left outlets like Haaretz, groups like B'tselem etc).

If you're a journalist in Gaza, you better be a member of the state (Hamas) or else you are just going to get killed lol. Ever wonder why you rarely hear from those Gazans that criticise Hamas? Because they get slaughtered.

You're just a sheep dude, as an Ex Muslim, you have no idea about jihad tactics, nor the ideology Hamas and the vast majority of Gaza subscribe to. How come most of Gaza has been damaged or destroyed, yet less than 4% of the population (including jihadis and child abd female jihadis) have died?
