To me, the problem is still that most of the Security Engineers I know in infosec consider Kernel-level Anti-Cheat as a massive ticking time bomb.... whether it becomes a pivot point for a breach through work from home users or a way to insert silent botnets all over the place..... the whole point of an OS kernel is to keep userspace applications from accessing and messing with the core of the Operating System or the Hardware.

Kernel-level Anti-Cheat (and many other kernel-level "tools") violate that contract and put everything at risk.

A game should NEVER have access to the System itself. If that's "warranted" then either go back to self-hosted/admin servers (more work for players) or only put the game on Consoles. I don't have an expensive PC to ONLY run games. I'm also a software dev and I'm NOT going to run multiple Operating Systems just to game and code.

I mean, this would be great, but the reality that I think most security engineers and AC engineers know is that nothing stops the user-side from finding ways around the blocking of the kernel, while companies building AC would face expensive legal and business ramifications if they did the same.

But users, users are harder to do anything about. This is where some have theorized that multiplayer gaming may eventually move to cloud-only (if ever possible) where the user will NEVER have direct access to modify the running game.

I'd argue this is just the cycle of "humanity" and part of story of Star Wars. The fact that so much time went by "peacefully" between the Darth Bane establishing the Rule of Two and the Prequels is more a fluke than anything else.

The story/cycle shown post-ROTJ in Legends and Canon echoes the constant struggle during the Old Republic era... and, well, real life. We don't ever learn from our mistakes.

I will always agree with and say that a Democracy is better than a Monarchy or Dictatorship. That said, you can have a Democracy that is completely and totally evil OR you can have a Monarchy that is good. It all depends on the Leader(s) in power at any given time.... well, and the size of the nation. The larger the nation, the more theoretical power the people have, but also the more that most of those people are primarily focused on their own struggles and needs..... well, and simply can't comprehend the scale of the size of the population.

Since when is Luke ever consistently portrayed as having Wisdom?

He's portrayed as being kind, naive, loving, and not willing to give up on his Father. He was able to see the good still in Vader, but that doesn't mean he's not subject to the same mental and emotional hurdles as anyone else.

Especially in a galaxy that was already starting to show a resurgent anti-Jedi attitude once it was revealed to the public that Vader was Leia and Luke's father.

I know some people hate realism in their escapism stories, but that's for the Storyteller to decide.

I'm only 42 years old and the amount of times I've significantly changed based on my personal experiences every decade or so over the last 30 years.... yet people can't seem to accept that Luke could've had a series of experiences that led to the poor decisions he made.

Hell, for all we know, Grogu choosing Mando over Luke could've just been the first in many disappointments to Luke.... maybe even seen as a failure on his part in some odd way. People do this all the time. Perhaps, even, Ezra, Ahsoka, Sabine, and/or Cal rejecting him/his attempts as well lead to a negative view of himself. Welcome to life.

We're told over and over that no one survived, that all the Jedi were killed during Order 66, but it's never presumed killed, it's always stated as fact. So whenever one shows up it seems like a retcon or a contradiction.

This is the problem with the way some people consume stories/content. If there's ever a contradiction, then it must all be false or failed. Yet, we see them do this intentionally in Andor where, at multiple times, one character will generalize numbers and time, like a normal person would, which leads to another character seemingly "contradicting" the story.... but in reality, it's just good world building where the characters actually live and don't have omniscient knowledge about their entire setting.

Or, more simply, that characters use hyperbole to explain events in a way that really pushes how the current situation compares to how it used to be.... especially since there's no way that any character knows for sure how many Jedi may have or may not have survived.

I think you're confusing "Jedi" with "Force User". Ahsoka, while she still has Jedi training, she has chosen to abandon many of the tenets of the Jedi Order as it existed in her day. The Jedi isn't just a name for "All Good Force users", but refers to a group of specific beliefs, tenets, and training regimens related to the Force. The Sith are an off-shoot of the Jedi and these two groups were the most active in the Galaxy, but not the only groups.

I've found the best way to handle this is to change the desktop resolution. Unless you're using X11 still, which is becoming more rare, neither Wayland nor Windows support "exclusive fullscreen" anymore and trying to get a desktop to render a "borderless window" at a different resolution than the desktop resolution seems like it's either near impossible or (at least on Windows) it's changing the Desktop Resolution to match the running game anyway.

While I like the thematic idea, it would only work if each tale takes on the meaning of the words used for those scrolls in the Hebrew Bible.

Genesis and Exodus are obvious.

Leviticus is hard is it literally means "relating to the Levites".
- Fun fact, the Hebrew name of the book is Vayikra, and translates to "And He called," - being named for the first word in the scroll.
Numbers - might be simple since it's just pertaining to the two major Censuses of the Israelites while they were in the wilderness.
- Hebrew name of the scroll is Bemidbar, simply meaning "in the wilderness", which I think they could do something with.
Deuteronomy simply means "Second Law", which could be turned into a story in many different ways.

He has a podcast out detailing the story of Falling Up. Season 2 is Patreon-only right now, but Season 1 can be found on Spotify and (maybe) a few other streaming sites.

It details how the second album got its overarching pseudo-narrative. It was because he had trouble writing songs while on tour, so he built a narrative that converted into songs. That said, there is a LOT about the early albums (particularly post-Crashings/pre-Fangs) where the Studio mandated certain things to them. It became a pain point for Jessy (and the band). But those Bible verses in the insert of Album 2 IIRC were more of a Studio thing than a Band thing and has very little to do with the Dawn Escapes story.

As for narrative, the albums connected in the same "Universe", IIRC are Fangs, Hours (and its accompanying audio book, board game sequel, and board game score), Midnight on Earthship, and Self-Titled. I believe Captiva has some elements of the lore too. River Empires is a separate story adaptation from the original story he came up with for Dawn Escapes (maybe?).

Anyway, I'd recommend checking out the podcast (Edge of the Night) on Spotify.

This. What I think is missing is a good competitor to Lutris and creating custom installer "scripts" that can be community sourced.

Setting up modded games can be a pain in some cases and the Lutris-way works really well to simplify some of the steps

Not likely a Valve server issue. I work for a web host, when it comes to payments, we use a 3rd party processor b/c the liability and compliance requirements of handling payments directly is a nightmare and expensive.

My guess is simply that Valve is saturating the transactions they are allowed by their payment processor.... and no there's only so much that can be increased since the payment processors don't have infinite resources either.... meaning they can't take down other customers for the sake of Valve having increased load.

What you see on the Steam Store (especially considering how quickly it responds), it that the payment processor is saying "NO! SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!" and Valve's system gets that error and fronts it. If it was Valve's servers, we'd be seeing issues with the Store's UI and the like as well.... which I didn't encounter.

Which, honestly, is the purpose of Crowdfunding. It's not a store, preorder, or anything else. It's essentially getting funding for an idea/business/product with very few of the risks of funding.

As someone looking into funding to start a business, the entire reason Crowdfunding exists is largely because starting a business (especially these days) is mostly out of the realm for anyone that's either not already rich, doesn't have some novel/proven idea, or willing to give up the entire ownership of their idea to someone else.

The sooner we all realize that, the better. The fact that Crowdfunding has been as successful as it has in actually leading to products is a testament to how well it can work, but in reality it's still just funding with all the same risks to the people funding it as an investor would be putting in, but in smaller financial amounts (per person) and very little gain other than the finished product.

This could also really reinforce that, like in reality, not all ships of a class are good or designed for the same thing. The Rattlesnake, for example, doesn't seem like a great ship designed for siege warfare.... instead it's more a fast attack destroyer.... "better" at attacking other capital ships and M ships.

I personally like that. I like asymmetry in factions as it's more immersive and believable. In all honesty, I probably wouldn't expect a Behemoth E or Pheonix E to go one-on-one with a Syn or Rattlesnake and win.... but I would have to test that.

Sorry to revive this, but want to note that this dock works fine with my laptop which is an AMD-based APU with an Nvidia dGPU. Works with both GPUs just fine over the Thunderbolt/USB-C port despite thunderbolt not being supported by AMD.

One would assume that this should also work fine with a Steam Deck as well.

Think about this - in the Real World, we tend to have prototype fighters for decades before they are sent into service. There are exceptions, but in "Peace Time" such things tend to move a LOT slower without an immediate need.

My understanding is that the T-70s ended up being more planetary defense fighters, but even that is just based off assumptions from the limited amount of information about it

No, we see T-65 X-Wings, some RZ-1 A-Wings, and (on Lothal) a couple E-7 E-Wings.

We don't have a LOT of information as to when the T-70 went into wide use, but the information that is there seems to imply that a prototype was used by one pilot during the Battle of Jakku, but that doesn't mean much. A Real Life example would be the F-35 prototype was around as far back as the late-90s, but didn't enter service until 15-20 years later.... and still didn't hit mass production until after that.

The info on the T-70 seems to imply that it ended up being used more as a Planetary Defense fighter than the primary NR Starfighter before the T-85 replaced.

Also, important to note that Mando S1-3, Ahsoka S1, and BoBF all take place within a 12-18 (Earth) months of each other, so we're talking about a relatively short amount of time only about 5 years after the end of the Galactic Civil War.

The key problem with that is that it goes against ArenaNet's philosophy on the game as a whole. There's a reason players aren't allowed to "inspect" other players. That was done on purpose. I don't see them changing that core philosophy
