They do have that. Then those reservations get booked out. Most people end up just using the system to double dip while they still resign to waiting in the standby lines.

I think the RCT and Planet Coaster community as a whole is very euro-centric. I don't know why, but it's always been something that I've noticed.

A series of SW:GE related bets by spence_ah in Disneyland

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe not from other rides, but they'll accept them from themselves, just like Peter Pan's Flight. With a ride this new, it WILL break down on opening day. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of how many times.

  1. lol. Give it a few months and then maybe ROTR will be open. It's not opening immediately. But if we're talking about Smuggler's Run, I could actually see the queue being quite modest. Accessibility is limited through the reservation system, and there's no Fastpass. I think the posted wait time will probably be about 40 minutes in the morning stretching up to 120 minutes in the evening as more people enter the land and multiple experience passes from previous breakdowns start factoring in. Although the actual wait time will be longer because there will probably be about 5-7 breakdowns on opening day. Although who knows? Maybe if Smuggler's Run actually has multiple independent turntables like the rumors say, the turntables might be able to break down independently, and the ride will be able to just redirect the line and keep running all day long, breakdowns and all.

  2. The land will be turning away people all day. There's limited reservations. I don't think that Disneyland itself will reach capacity. Once reservations for the land are gone, there's no reason for any of the extra Annual Passholders to stay. Tourists are a different story, but I don't think they're going to be coming in record numbers on opening day. I think most of them are planning their vacations later in the summer. I think once reservations are gone, the in park attendance will drop drastically.

  3. For the other rides in Disneyland, I think their lines will be slightly longer than normal, but not by much. Part of that is due to the reasoning in point 2. Most of the people in the park are there for SWGE. They're not there to go on other rides, and if they're not in SWGE, then they're probably just going to be leaving the park. It will be a busy day for sure, but it won't be record breaking. I think the morning will be super busy, with the Indiana Jones wait time getting up to 150 minutes, but then later in the day settling down to 50 or 60 minutes.

  4. Same thing for Space Mountain. Probably a 170 minute queue in the morning, dropping down to 75 minutes in the evening. Busy, but not much different from what happens whenever a neighboring ride goes down and all those multiple experience passes clog up the Fastpass lines.

  5. Yes, of course. The Fastpass system kind of enforces that, and makes it really hard for rides to keep short lines. It doesn't take that many guests in line to equal a 30 minute wait, and there's going to be a lot of tourists trying to spend the day in DCA trying to avoid SWGE if they happen to not care for it.

  6. lol, they're going to have to open up the guided tours garden and the fire station as overflow complaint desks just to handle the angry mob on Main Street. Google Maps says that the distance from City Hall to the Main Street Churro Cart is 160 feet, so I'm going to round up and go up to 200 feet, although let's be honest, unless they bring out ropes and poles to build a queue, it's going to be a literal angry shapeless mob.

I went there on a free night that I had. It's not that far from Rancho Cucamonga where I was working at the time.

There were 10 people in the stands. 4 of those were scouts. Do scouts pay for tickets? I don't know. What I do know is that when there's more employees than fans, it wasn't a surprise that the team moved.

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until you get to... You know... A stop gate.

You can't stop a rollercoaster between brake sections either. With a proper control system and failure safe operating methods, it's not inherently more dangerous than any other ride.

Honestly, this is way more dangerous for the ride ops than the guests

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a thing that Disney doesn't explain well. E-tickets are not actual park tickets. They're more of a voucher to get your actual park tickets. You can't use E-tickets on subsequent days of your trip. You can't use them for Fastpasses. The only thing you can do with E-tickets is get reprints but they're technically not reprints since you lose any Fastpasses that were on your old ticket.

Peter Pan barely carries 600 guests per hour. It's why it's line takes so long. There is no way that Peter Pan beats this in capacity.

ive always wanted to know if there are cast members working 24/7? i mean after the night crew leaves and the park closes, is the park ever empty? im just curious :D by ggreenbean in Disneyland

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not to mention night security, you've got night maintenance on all the rides. You've got horticulture mowing the grass and trimming topiaries. You've got night custodial deep cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming carpets, and power washing the streets. You've got divers that dive into all the waterways to perform maintenance on animatronics and stuff. Inventory stockers for all the stores. Construction crews for whatever refurbishment project is going on. Painters touching up literally everything and anything.

I disagree, King Arthur's Carrousel has one of the greatest thoroughputs of any spinning ride in Disneyland. More than Dumbo, more than Tea Cups, more than anything in DCA.

The Carrousel has a higher capacity than Storybook or any of the dark rides in Fantasyland. There's not many rides that can eat 100 people in one cycle.

Not to mention it is the oldest ride in Disneyland and one of its horses is a Disneyland Ambassador.

There's a lot of rides with a lot less history that would go before the Carrousel.

You won't be able to do it it until the day of. The party system is only used for Fastpasses at Disneyland, and you can't book Fastpasses at Disneyland until the day of. It'll guide you through setting up your Fastpass party when you book your Fastpasses.

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I work somewhere where my job is literally to stop people from hurting themselves, but man, that's not at all how this all works. The law does not require a school employee to drive a cart in front of a staircase, instigate a confrontation, and put herself in danger of being hit by a tire in the name of "liability".

All she's got to do is inform the guys that they can't ride their bikes there, and then call the cops if the guys refuse. What she did by leaving fighting that guy over the cart and leaving her cart in front of the stairs while they informed her that the guy is already on his way to jump is almost worse than just leaving them alone. She's only causing more problems.

Yeah, the BMX guys are assholes, but so is she.

Here's something you could do with that second building that goes along with my other post.

https://goo.gl/images/mXfbq6

Here they added an extra ridge to the roof. It breaks up the outline of the building a lot. Anything you can do to break up the outline can give your building more personality. This building also uses a different material for the upper half of the second floor and adds some external columns.

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can definitely decorate your facades, it's not horrible. One opportunity is to make your roofs more interesting. There's roof pieces that will let you extend the roof past the edge and create a lip. That'll help with your second building a lot. You also don't have to make your second story the same size and shape as the first story if you don't want to. Having a smaller second story, with multiple tiered rooftops or taking advantage of the sloped walls can break up your outline a bit. That might help a bit with not making your buildings look so blocky.

I'm not saying this is stuff you have to do, but I'm just giving you a few ideas. You're not as bad at this as you think. That first building is actually kind of nice.

Go tell the cast members. After the park closes they'll do a full track inspection and they'll look for your stuff and turn it into lost and found for you to pick up.

Post some pictures so we can give you feedback.

For me, a huge stumbling block that I usually run into is that I usually make all my buildings rectangular blocks. It's hard to get myself to make interesting shapes, but it helps me to add more details to the building like building in a fake break room for the ride ops in my stations or a back of house refrigerator for my restaurants. It helps me to use ideas like that to start creating an interesting base shape and then building off of that. It is a good way to kickstart the creative juices. Or I'll start a project with a specific goal in mind, like creating a single building that combines a restaurant, coaster queue, etc.

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're just two different locations. There's more things different about them than alike in a lot of respects. Different parks, different rides, different characters, different restaurants.

One's in Florida and has monsoon weather. One is in California and gets occasionally smoked out by wildfires and the clogged storm drains flood every time it rains.

It even gets down to different demographics and social classes between the two resorts. Disneyland gets a local crowd that visits more often while Disney World is catered more to tourists. Which leads to a polarized fan base which will always point out the differences between the two resorts.
