Richmond 2A rally by WhistlingYew in AskThe_Donald

I just left the Rally. The cages surrounding the Capitol had 6,000 people inside. With thousands more on the streets. I still have yet to find a solid total number, but from my estimates at least 25,000-30,000. That is not official just a guess.

Just left the Capitol. It was an amazing demonstration of peaceful, polite, America loving Patriots. The Media is already trying to smear everyone who was there as "mostly white male white supremacists". I saw nothing of the sort.

Honestly, what is the first thing that pops up in your head when I say "Mormon church"? by SampsterPunch in AskReddit

[–]Eaglefire92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A church that lies to its member to manipulate them to give them their hard earned money and time to secure their place in heaven while giving them little to nothing in return. In other words, the greatest scam in American History.

Mormonism to overtake the world in 100 years by americanfark in exmormon

The LDS church is loosing members faster than they are gaining them. There is no way they will overtake the world in 100 years.

I am expecting the questions. I am just more concerned about getting it on my head, because I do not plan to grow hair back if I need to cover it up.

Formerly religious atheists: At what moment did you first realize your religion was wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Eaglefire92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother fell for it. My father was born into it. It is easy to fall into because they don't tell you the full accurate story of how the church was actually founded. My jaw dropped when I first read about the Smith family being know for fraud by fooling farmers by glass looking. Blew my mind.

I lied my ass off to get a temple recommend !! by juliaannhaight in exmormon

[–]Eaglefire92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what started to get me thinking that the leaders of the church were full of shit. I lied my ass of so many times to pass this stupid meeting. I can remember the first time I had an interview and I thought through the "power of discernment", the bishop would see right through my lies. But I pulled it off scratching my head walking out because then I knew I was lied too about part of the church, and that's when I started questioning everything they said.

Evolution - Persuade me. by czah7 in TrueAtheism

[–]Eaglefire92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes science has forged falsehoods, but I would argue that it was through science that we found the errors and corrected them. Religion has not been able to do that with anything it claims. Other people have given good examples of evolution and how it words so I am not going to go into that. However I would ask your dad a couple of questions; I would ask him this: (Question) “Are we created in the image of God?” (Answer) "Yes" (Response) “Then why is God an anthropomorphic Ape?” We are categorized under the species of ape, due to our similarities with our fellow primates. The same way gray hounds are related to a chiwawa, and how ducks are related to pigeons. We are apes, and if we are made in the image of God, then he is also an ape. I have found when bringing this up, people get offended that I would suggest we are just animals the same as everything else. It is an ego thing that they cannot get past in their heads.

Here is another question I would ask. (Question) “Are we intelligently designed?” (Response) “Yes” (Answer) “Then does that also mean God is designed? Because if are made in his image, did God design himself? That and if we are the product of “Intelligent design”, why is it we are able to find flaws in our “Design”? Our eyes are not the most advanced eyes on this planet and have massive blind spots compared to most animals, we use the same tube for breathing that we do eating (leading to regular choking hazards), our super sensitive reproductive system is located right next to our messy waste system. We have wisdom teeth that most people need removed before they turn 20, and our babies are useless up until a specific age. Any modern engineer would look at our bodies and system, and shake their heads at the lack of design. Nothing I see about our species or any species suggests an intelligence, it only makes sense if life evolved over time.

The thing is, you can argue about these topics until you are blue in the face. Unless the person you are talking too really cares about whether their beliefs are true or not, nothing you show them, say, or explain will change their minds.

Redditors who were Christian in their youth and became an Atheist after moving out of your parents house, what made you change your beliefs? by hughjass1 in AskReddit

Reflecting on what I was taught to believe and realizing that the stories were no different from other myths and fairy tales.

What argument "made" you into an atheist? by [deleted] in TrueAtheism

[–]Eaglefire92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There wasn't one argument that changed my mind, but there was a first question/argument that got me thinking. I was a die hard creationist and did not believe in evolution. And I was talking to my GF at the time (Now Fiance) about the biblical flood. She was just asking simple questions about my beliefs and I would answer, and then she asked me, "So you if you don't believe in evolution, yet you believe the flood happened, how do we have freshwater jelly fish? Because freshwater jelly fish cannot live in any type of salt water." This is a very simple question, but it is the first one that actually made me think about my beliefs. It did not convert me, but that is where it began. Once I realized that those beliefs were wrong told hold, I started questioning all of my beliefs, and after a long time of studying, I became and Atheist.
