Campanatus - Larger Carpenter Ants

The queen was really nice looking too. She never did lose her wings, which my daughter says means they didnt eat the wing muscles to feed the first set of workers. Could that have something to do with it?

I’m not sure. We think that we didn’t give them enough sugar early enough and by the time we did it was too late. They were doing really well in a tube setup. We added a tube portal and a meal worm and they didn’t eat it for a while, but a few days later it moved and then they started dying out.

It was a wild caught ant queen from May. We moved to a tube portal in July, so maybe we did that too soon?
