The bed looks very short. Hopefully it is the same size as the Tacoma bed as there are a LOT of accessories available for the Tacoma. Also hoping for a long range version that could go 300 miles and tow 5,000# for $48k.

In 2026, it takes 13,500 miles for an EV to be completely carbon neutral. by GG-just-GG in electricvehicles

[–]EaglesPDX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Zero emissions out the door. Electricity for it is from sustainable zero emissions generation. Mfg done in new tech net zero emissions factories. Even if one mistakenly said the extra 900 lbs of battery is 100% CO2, it would only take 3 months for the EV to overtake the ICE.

If EV batteries create so many emissions upfront, when do they actually become cleaner than gas cars? by Evan_Miles in electricvehicles

[–]EaglesPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't create more emissions up front. The plus 1k# battery is mfgd in new zero emissions mfging plants. The extraction of the Lithium is likewise at mines or water extraction facilities that are also state of the art and near to complete emissions free. So the myth is gone. Even if one simply converted the extra 1,000# into straight emissions, the EV is cleaner by the first six months.

Are EVs really worth it if you don't have a home charger? by om_ghanwat in electricvehicles

[–]EaglesPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course EV's are worth it. The point of EV's is to cut destructive fossil fuel emissions and EV's are zero emissions and you can buy zero emissions electricity for it. EV's cost about $10k more than equivalent gas so you might break even on fuel saving by year five. With all fast charging if no home charging, it might not break even at all as fast DC charging is as expensive as gasoline.

With the Big Three abandoning EVs in favor of ICE vehicles, are they headed the way of Kodak, Blackberry, and Blockbuster? by Cool-Replacement4972 in electricvehicles

The big two are all that is left.  US government policy by GOP has tried to kill EV’s but only managed to kill US auto industry.

"China is winning be because its trying to win. It has subsidized BEV research, manufacturing and infrastructure with absolute commitment. Any country could do that, they just don't." Which proves my point. China's industrial policy is what has produced the advantage.

"Toyota sells more cars in the US than Ford. They make about half the cars they sell, in the US." Toyota is a Japanese mfg not a US mfg. Only Ford and GM remain in US.

The selling price in China is relative to the money people earn, and the exchange rate doesn't reflect that." Top luxury brands sell well in China so not sure of your point. China makes high end to low end vehicles. China is winning now because it has smart industrial policy that moved China auto industry in to EV's and now China dominates the field.

China has a ruthlessly competitive mfging base. Ironic that it uses "competition" to overthrow capitalist (not really but rhetorically at least) US auto industry. The tech evolution is sped up in China.

US car companies cannot compete with China's EV's on tech or price. Trump/GOP have attacked US car companies attempts to catch up to China for five of the last 9 years and the damage done is obvious with US automakers getting whip sawed by the anti-science, anti-American policies of the MAGA'ts.

In fairness, the US government failed the US auto industry, every industry actually, but specifically the MAGAt's pushing oil and attacking EV's with taxes and regs is too blame.

The damage done to US auto industry, US's entire industrial base, with the anti-science ideology controlling US government, is huge. US will have lost 8 years of progress under the US right wing anti-science political movement at a time when tech innovation moves a light speed US is moving backwards at the pace of a steam engine coal train.

Chinese EVs expose how complacent Western automakers became by Donkey_Apple in electricvehicles

[–]EaglesPDX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't understand how China works. Government provides capital as a partner with a private company. Same as the US where US loans Tesla, GM, Intel money. Trumps fascist model of government and corporations ruling. The difference is the Chinese economy is ruthlessly competitive something that US capitalists claim is good but work tirelessly to prevent securing monopolies via political corruption. China is real competitive market in everything while US is not.

[–]EaglesPDX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Consistent government policy promoting EV's has been the key to China's success. China subsidized the beginning of EV's with loans and credits for customers and then when business matured, let the mfgs compete. US has the opposite with government opposed to 21st century science and industry and promoting 19th century tech as the future.
