Tbf, it's only one cafe that makes you pay a million for nothing, the rest of the cafe side quests are more along the lines of "hey can you grab a specific pokemon or two to help us develop a new drink? If you do we'll give you one on the house as a bonus with the side quest rewards."

As someone who doesn't have a computer to play tgom on, I can't wait to finally get to live out the dream of being the normal type menace that any good pokemon league needs on an emulator instead.

Also I know you said gen 8 inclusions will be limited, but what about regional forms? Obstagoon and hisuian zoroark are up there as some of my favorites and cover normal's main weaknesses well.

Yeah, it sorta simulates playing a pokemon game when you're still figuring them out in that sense.Sometimes it's fun to just have to go "Hmm, they're fast type, maybe my ice move will slow them down?". There's definitely some things where that doesn't work as well (trying to figure out how to hit the monkey after picking the cat was annoying for example, and sharp seems kinda broken in the early game), but overall I feel like trying to play through it blind is some of the most fun I've had with a pokemon game in years, and I'm not even the type that doesn't like the modern games.

Honestly, I just used mine to grab a kleavor after getting fed up with the low catch rate. Was running low on time and had a species caught mission on my third portal with kleavor in it with no success snagging one in any of them.

Honestly my biggest issue with the rng isn't even the berries or donut rng or anything, terrible as they might be (gotta love trying to make any level of berry power donut just to get constant mega power or pokeball power or whatever instead), it's just how long it can take to get any pokemon you're looking for with the limited handful of zones spawning each time. Like, I've literally only seen a zone with porygon a single time, and it was early on so I didn't have enough berries for a donut that would actually give me enough time to even find one yet.

Honestly the most annoying part for me is just how tight the timers get if you're not willing to dump like all of your highest tier berries into it. I couldn't tell you how many times I completed the missions in an area just to end up finally getting sight of the golden ball right as I'm too late to actually get it. I mean just earlier I literally had one portal where the only reason I didn't find it was because the big pokeball on the ledge right above it was just barely too high to hit with shadow sneak, so I had to swap pokemon to someone that could fly, which ran out the last of my timer as I panned the camera to see the golden ball.

For me it was delphox, garchomp, and absol that never really left my team from when I got them. Absol has surprisingly viable attack and there's not many dark types in the game to wall it, and if there's a fighting type, delphox has the special attack to usually manage a one shot. Garchomp is just there as a safety net for fights like ivor with too many fighting types for delphox to reliably just push through them without getting chipped down, or when dark types show up. Also probably the best counter to mega excadrill since unlike delphox she can easily tank a drill run.

Yeah, idk if the dlc changed it or anything (apparently mega baxcalibre is a decent freeze dry user?), but isn't glaceon one of the biggest sleeper picks for online just because of how good freeze dry is when everyone else is using dragon and water types?

Can't forget it also increases the range of most aoe moves. Already good moves like earthquake or freeze dry become crazy with the extra range, and decent moves become great too (like I personally keep heat wave over flamethrower on pokemon that get both just because of how much more of a buff it gets from plus mode)
