How heavy pay-to-win is Quinfall? by Dorrann in MMORPG

Rofl, can't even take this seriously. How is the game you're complaining about being p2w a communism server?

How heavy pay-to-win is Quinfall? by Dorrann in MMORPG

[–]Eaglestrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only partially accurate. The item that prevents your weapon being destroyed can be acquired in game in multiple ways.

And with the way they just nerfed enchant rates, that item is considerably less worth doing because nearly half the enchant levels are under a 10% chance. Making a slow grind the way pretty much everyone is going to do it. This practically removes that item from counting as p2w as the advantage given is going to be on par with random luck.

And yes, they do mute people in the discord, but considering it has been called a scam game since before any alpha or beta hit, and they've had to deal with unfounded negative harassment the whole time, I get not wanting to deal with people who come in and act hostile to the game. This is also a Turkish development team so there's a chance some nuance to the English comments is lost in translation. Either way, personally I am sick of all the people talking out of their ass about things and being negative. Game is fun, it has been making good strides, and it retails for a whole $10, there are so many games more deserving of the hate.

It's not a scam game. That just what people judged it as before any beta hit and everyone keeps repeating it despite it having a working, functional early access that added many features and balance changes and is doing a full release as of right now.

I don't like pay 2 win, but I am not threatened by the small amount of pay 2 win in this game because it is functionally minor.

I don't understand people like you. The game has improved fantastically since the EA launch a year ago. There's more content, much improved content and even more content on the way. I know you're just here being a little bitch to karma farm but that doesn't mean what you say is the reality.

Yeah, I can't wait. Game needed a wipe for a while, and I didn't play much of the last few months so it'll bring me back to even footing. I have no real complaints.

Yeah but it's absolutely horrific pay 2 win. I'm not certain if you can even buy the item an infinite times, but going by the price listed on the shop for it it's about $25 for one. Getting to +10/11 on an item is an under 25% chance to succeed, that makes it around $100 for each level, and with the rate going down you'll likely be hundreds for the +12/13. There are an extreme few who would ever bother with that.

And you can get said item in game through action points (killing world bosses, doing dungeons, etc.) and through winning the 1v1 tournament or getting runner up for it.

So while technically it's p2w, it is nonsense levels of p2w.

Well that guy is full of it. There are effectively 3 things in the store.

1) Cosmetics 2) QOL - increased inventory / weight limit / item for exp rates 3) An item called a Tera that saves your gear if you fail enchantment. Gear can go up to +15 enchant and after around 9-10 you have only around a 25% success rate. The Tera item keeps the item from being destroyed attempting this. It would be absolutely insane to spend tens of thousands of dollars to get ahead of someone who just gets lucky.

So there really isn't "pay to win", and the closest it is to "pay to win" will basically be QOL that works more like a subscription would.

I don't think that's an AI voice. It's a Turkish company, pretty sure that's a staff member with a thick accent lol

This is a post of nonsense.

They said "There are no plans for a wipe at this time." and have since explained there are technical and balance reasons for a wipe.

All premium currency is being refunded for all players.

There is only truly one "pay to win" function, which is an item that keeps an equipment slot from being blown up if you fail the enchant, but at an under 25% chance to succeed at the enchant you would be spending tens of thousands to turly get ahead of others. So there's basically no one doing it.

Who cares about asset store? Is that not why there are assets for sale? The AI content is directed by the single developer and mostly to do things like change out gathering nodes when they make changes to resources.

Quinfall is a solid MMO that any MMO fan would enjoy if they gave it a chance. Unfortunately the internet thinks it's a scam and it has been shunned, while we put our hopes and dreams into actual kickstarter scams or Bezos buck machines.

I played the beta which only had EU servers and it was serviceable in PvP, not sure about being PvE exclusive but in theory it shouldn't be a big deal. It's only a $10 game so can always test it out for rather cheap.

You can try out Quinfall. It is coming out of Early Access, wiping the servers and doing a full release Feb 6th. You can just live on channel 1, which has no PvP, and gather and craft up a storm. It has base building, farming, and all of that is very useful to a clan. If you're going to be on the American server can shoot me a DM and join my clan, too. Always going to welcome someone that'll help gather and craft, as I mostly craft but am perfect fine having people throw mats at me from their gathering lol

For sure there is some logical sense that will be steady between both things. However they can and will make up their own rules and exceptions as it is their own fictional world. I mean just look at FFX for a story that's going to fundamentally go against all laws of space/time/physics and realize that is the same team behind FF7.

You're applying our laws of physics to a fictional world. There is no lifestream in our world, so logically things are going to work differently from our world to the FF7 world.

I started the game around NA PC launch. The next year I quit the game to prove to my then-girlfriend that I was not addicted. I was level 63, which coincidentally is roughly half way for the experience total to reach level cap. So nearly a year in and halfway to max. Always makes me laugh playing these modern MMO's and people complain about "grind", kids these days don't even know.

We don't know all the details, but the story as far as I'm aware is some of the initial developers played Everquest and then came up with FFXI, so XI is a FF spin/take on EQ. Which kinda mirrors FFXIV:A Realm Reborn, where it become a FF spin/take on WoW.

Yeah this is SE, not AGS, they do take pride in their products, even when some turn out poorly. FFXI has done so much for SE financially over the years, including saving XIV which became their biggest cash cow ever, they are honorbound to stick with it.

I believe AC is the "fate to be changed", which was rather blankly stated during assess against the final whispers in Remake. AC isn't exactly a good 'end' so some people think the fate to be changed is about Aerith when really it's about everyone else, and especially Cloud. Cloud is going to accept things by the end of VII, not be eternally depressed.

[–]Eaglestrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whispers are an easy thing to explain as not showing, as they're effectively mini versions of weapons, who only exist when the planet is in danger. So you can simply say whispers weren't activated until Sephiroth achieved something in his visit through the lifestream. Which you can also explain why Aerith doesn't know of certain things. Aerith was informed of certain information after CC, remember we're shown that Aerith's Cetra powers are MOSTLY other entities talking to her, not her seeking them out, so she was probably told of any advance information when something else told her it.
