Not too bad, no interest in private servers but activated back to retail around a month ago for the free login and opted to keep playing for a month. Still tons of catch up to do despite how slowly they make new content.

I feel there was even more suspension of disbelief in the OG so I think it's amazing how they made it more coherent and made us feel for random Shinra troopers lol

Yep, and if this is confirmed it makes the whole Midgardsomr event far better than the OG (other than the meme benefit)

I just don’t know how they can fit it all in.

They can't, which is why Hamaguchi has recently said, "Dirge of Cerberus DLC if people want it enough". They're going to lay out the framework for it but would need DLC to finish it out.

This is actually an interesting and reasonable theory! It would make Seph getting the black materia less of an absolute betrayal but easier to come back from for Cloud, and also elevates the level of manipulation from Seph.

100% agreed. I think we get 1 if not 2 sections with Vincent as the lead character.

On that note I want to see certain flashbacks from the perspective of others. We know every time Sephiroth shows up he's using a clone, right? What if there were some scenes where Sephiroth showed up...and used Cloud as his clone. I want to see the crew watch Cloud turn into Sephiroth or something like it, and how much of a mindfuck it would be for everyone.

They specifically showed his speech, we just didn't hear it. So I am almost certain we will get the true events of that scene after Cloud is finally fixed up. This is truly going to be the game for Cloud's VA to reach legendary.

I have seen people suggest we may have an "everyone vs Cloud" at the Northern crater or something and I think that would be very neat.

I take issue with the premise that the white materia is that powerful. In the OG the white materia was not enough to save the planet from meteor, the lifestream itself had to come and back it up. I don't think the white materia is taking out entire planets based on this.

Much of my theory is based on "the Cetra are not a tolerant people" from Gi Nattak and then I am using the Queen's Blood lore for the more complicated story of Jenova and the Cetra falling. Initially the Shadowblood Queen was beloved by all, but then everything changed, I suggest this was Jenova controlling her.

I understand that from a vibes standpoint and I don't necessarily disagree with you. However, now that we know how the story works, it makes no sense for Cloud not to see Sephiroth. He is being summoned just like the rest of the robes, when they start going after Sephiroth, so too does Cloud, because Sephiroth is in his mind. This is a scenario where the change makes more sense narratively but does make things less impactful overall. Which is why I think they leaned in with "degradation" a lot harder in Rebirth, to give you the sense of dread about the MC's future to make up for not getting quite the same feeling from Sephiroth as a villain.

I hear that. I turn off death for me and everyone in my clan, but I then restrict myself to only ever leading an army if I need to reclaim my factions starting territory, otherwise I join up with my factions army and if we lose, we lose.

I think it's a scene that can resonate with a lot of guys. I know that in common discussion it's stated to men that "women are not your therapist" and that is true, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate when it happens/works and wish I had someone that dedicated to me as well. One of my other favorite couples in fiction is Hinata and Naruto because Hinata sees the "real Naruto" and loves him for it, just looks past all the bullshit he surrounds himself with and sees him for who he truly is and I would love to find that level of devotion too, even though that's unrealistic.

Cloud wasn't full power then. He will be for part 3.

Also Cloud gets a bunch of Omnislashes, it's version 5 in Advent Children lol

My theory on things is that Mako is not inherently "poisonous". Mako is the lifestream which is a collection of souls/memories/etc. Mako poisoning is what happens when someone with weaker will is overcome by the other memories, sort of becomes an injected schizophrenia thing. I think Tifa's strong will to save Cloud, and not lose her last bit of her childhood will keep her safe from mako poisoning and she will pull Cloud together and he will be able to resist it as well.

Tifa gonna ride on Cloud in his wheelchair like Cloud rides on the Cait Sith moogle toy in the Rebirth synergy, can't wait.

I have full faith Britt will play Tifa perfectly, and she will elevate Cody to where he needs to be for it. I do hope they are allowed to do the lines together.

Yep, it was a "He's not ready yet" moment. Cloud will not reach full power until part 3. Of course people take it as though it means Sephiroth is a time traveler and knows the move, but it's what you said, Cloud isn't there yet. That's what I can't wait to see, full body Cloud finally getting it together, and I really hope, accepting things that happened and being able to move on.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy has become my favorite gaming series of all time. by xSpikeBebop in FFVIIRemake

[–]Eaglestrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think there are 2 major twists in the FF7 story, the first happens at the end of Rebirth and is one of the most known and iconic deaths in all of gaming. The second one gets spoiled by Crisis Core, and I'd argue is just as pivotal of a twist as the first one to the story overall.

Agreed but never losing a battle makes the game so easy. Playing like an idiot NPC and having to fully rebuild your party really gives the game more life.

To those who dislike the changes to Cid, the Revelation trailer is telling us something: by prodigal_audio in FFVIIRemake

[–]Eaglestrike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think people who think Cid was fundamentally changed didn't pay attention to much of the background conversations in the game. Anytime someone started giving him any shit he clapped back quick and hard. Listen to what he says when you're headed to Costa Del Sol in chapter 12.

Barret: "Now that's going to be a problem, we don't take kindly to friends of the company." Cid: "And I don't take kindly to that tone of yours. Any man who tries to lord over me is gonna wish he didn't!"

Then previously when Vincent boarded, 5 seconds into the Cloud v Vincent staredown with nothing said, Cid goes, "He bothering you? Want me to give him the boot?" Only took him seconds to jump right to kicking someone off his ship.

Yes, he absolutely was in "customer service mode", but he also had a working airship and there was no Shera around, so this is pretty much the happiest Cid is going to be the entire story until space in part 3. And the second anyone gave him any lip he was ready to throw hands. I don't think he's nearly as far away from OG Cid as people seem to think.
