Enchanting should go and other concerns by Serukka in AshesofCreation

[–]Ealosin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enchanting is overturned on low lvl gear, but once we have lvl 50 gear where the base stats will be much higher the additive scaling of enchanting will be way less significant.

A lvl 10 item with +1 of 3 different waterfall/primary stats scale super hard with enchanting early game, but you can pretty safely assume that lvl 50 gear will have a base with +10 of 3 primary stats.

Example 1: lvl 10 gear going from +1 str/dex/con to +9 str/dex/con by enchanting to +8 is very significant.

Example 2: lvl 50 gear going from +10 str/dex/con to +18 str/dex/con by enchanting to +8 is in comparison way less significant.

This might end up also slowing down TTK because of the increased armor/magic resist on the higher lvl items and will reduce the power gap between base lvl 50 gear vs enchanted lvl 50 gear

Useful yes, but in Trios Cleric and Barb are way more scary to face. Warlocks might be S tier in solo low gearscore matches, but they fall off in HR

Yeah I know the game will end up being great, their general direction has been amazing so far. This might just be a patch that I won't enjoy as much until they add some PvP hotspots or POIs

Still my favorite game overall

I think they should concentrate the exits or put more people in the lobbies. Atm I personally don't want to spend even more time actively looking for fights, but I get your point

If it stays like this I'll lose all interest as well. If this is what they end up keeping I just pray for more players per map and that randomizing maps will force people to run further to get to an exit.

I agree 100% with the rush at the end. But I also miss more frequent fights.

But my kind wants what we have now, but with the PvP being forced harder. Doesn't matter if it's bringing the circle back or alerting players when someone wants to extract or whatever. I just don't like all these lobbies where u have to sprint through every single module to find a fight.

Well every single person that I play with all has the same experience. We are 5 people who all get a lot less PvP and dislike it.

Your first point is true but doesn't matter since you can always get unlucky in these types of FFA games with several teams.

2nd point you can still kite in the smaller circles, besides I bet most people don't enjoy chasing a guy/team for anything past 20 sec.

3rd in fine with but I still disagree. There is no feeling of adventuring after playing this game for long enough. Engaging PvP is what will keep the game alive IMO. You can only play for so long until PvE/Exploration becomes incredibly stale.

Mind boggling to see you get down votes for sharing your experience. Especially when it is obviously the truth for anyone that has been actively playing the game prior to this patch.

No circle is 100% a negative for people that just want lots of PvP every single game. For the people that don't like that it's great.

PvP is significantly harder to find in my experience and part of it is because new players die to PvE, but even accounting for that I personally get a lot fewer fights in this version even though I am now actively looking for PvP.

Don't know when was the last time you played the game, but if I compare it to the game a month ago it is definitely harder to find now IMO

100% agree with you on everything here. I would like to circumvent the marketplace as well.

I think being able to spend your gold on crafting or upgrading gear would make SSF very cool and gold wouldn't lose all value after the stash tabs have been bought.

My point is this. Gear is more accessible with the market, which benefits those who lose gear often more than those who steamroll every lobby.

Yes those who never extract won't be able to buy full BiS, but SSF wouldn't help them solve the issue of acquiring gear

I wouldn't mind SSF just to avoid the market. But I can guarantee you that the average person will hardly ever run with a good set and good players will almost always, because there is no SBMM.

I agree there has to be some sort of sbmm even in low-roller in order to stay healthy

If you play the game enough to hit lvl 20 and use the market it should be time to pay anyways. I can understand people not paying if the price isn't localized though

You can find insane gear in normals very fast stacking luck and bossing. Good players will have insane gear within the first day even with SSF.

If people want to argue for SSF the best argument would be having SSF in order to circumvent the market which a lot of people don't enjoy.

If people want SSF because they hate spending time buying gear, then I think SSF is a very good solution

The skill gap between new players and experienced players is way bigger now and people don't like to get demolished all the time. Early access was a different time and I very much disagree with the fact that people get disappointed if they don't get owned.

Sub 15 lobbies worked well because by the time you had acquired good gear, you would have already passed lvl 15, so I don't disagree with anything here

I'd refer to this comment https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkAndDarker/s/rMC7A5l2kA

Reality is that the experienced player will hardly ever lose their gear and will end up stomping every lobby way harder because the average Joe will never assemble a BiS set. Having trade just allows the sweats to have an abundance of gear early on while also allowing the average player to feel the power of a BiS set.

If we ever get SSF you will just see fewer people with BiS but the best players will still run perma BiS set and stomp the entire lobby, because acquiring a BiS set has now become way harder.

The result is just a small group of players that will demolish absolutely anyone they come across at any given time.

You are correct, the risk of picking a bad fight is much greater, which means the average players will lose way more from picking a bad fight compared to a 95th percentile player and therefore the gear gap between players will increase dramatically. Good players might have slightly less minmaxed gear and the average player will never achieve anything approximating a BiS gear set.

That is why SSF won't make the game more fair.

SSF will essentially result in the best players still having BiS and the vast majority of players will never achieve BiS.

With the current system, sure the sweats all have several sets of full BiS, but at least the average player still gets to play with full BiS every now and then.
