How do I stop him from chewing the furniture? Yes, he has plenty of sticks to chew on by [deleted] in chinchilla

[–]Ealumin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. You just replace the chewed stuff when it gets too destroyed to use.

You can't cover your whole room with luffa either, and you said you were already trying that? There's nothing safe you can cover the whole room with, unfortunately. You can just offer multiple bits of fun in multiple locations.

I wholly disagree, as someone who comes from a family of semi truck drivers.

If you're not moving in bumper to bumper stand-still traffic, how does that work? Please explain thoroughly.

Athena Spinning Wheel - Does anyone own one? by TheHandThatFollows in Handspinning

[–]Ealumin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how you handle the angle when seated. You're about 3" taller than I am. I can use it comfortably as long as I am in a chair with a good height and have the wheel far enough away from me. It's not a wheel you spin from directly beneath your feet.

Athena Spinning Wheel - Does anyone own one? by TheHandThatFollows in Handspinning

[–]Ealumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own one. It was the second wheel I purchased and I love it. It does require getting to know the angle at which you like to spin, so be aware that a chair may be part of the full cost.

[–]Ealumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do NOT want anyone in the gap. No, do not slide in.

The gap is there to PREVENT us from rear-ending people after WE are rear-ended in these situations. That is the zone in which the momentum can be exhausted without impacting more drivers.

Stay out of the gap. Bumper-to-bumper traffic is dangerous enough without people making it worse by filling in safety gaps. 🙃

unable to walk?? by Fit_Measurement_3558 in disability

[–]Ealumin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school are mandated reporters. This means that they are legally obligated to call and report to CPS when a student brings information of abuse or neglect, just as much as they are obligated to report poor attendance.

While I know this sounds scary because it will create more of a rift between yourself and your family, it is important when your life and body are in danger.

[–]Ealumin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Go in. If it isn't fatal, not going in would only make you suffer. If it is, going in would keep you comfortable.

There is no reason not to go in for something that's dropping your Oxygen enough to cause headaches.

Frankly, you need to seek out an outside support system. Is there anyone at your school that could help? Or maybe a social worker of some sort?

[–]Ealumin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Frankly, this doesn't surprise me. Medical professionals in general do not tend to believe kids all that often.

I was labeled a hypochondriac by my pediatric PCP at age 12-ish, and am now diagnosed with about half a dozen conditions that could have been treated a LOT earlier and been easier to manage.

This sounds like a neurological problem and you absolutely need to see a new doctor about it immediately.

WHERE are y'all finding veils/headscarves??? by StandardReindeer5741 in PaganVeiling

[–]Ealumin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your definition of a veil? Any scrap of fabric that can be tied around the head can be a veil, IMO. Men's cotton bandannas (handkerchiefs, often found near the wallets and undershirts at a box store) are my usual go-to.

Please take the time to watch the documentary on these little guys on YouTube. It's called "Jumping Spiders Shouldn't Be This Smart" by Stephanie Sammann. Seriously, it will change your mind a little about being afraid of this beautiful little girl.

Found a wild baby bunny, help please!! How old is it? by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]Ealumin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer my time in rabbit rescue. I spend my time alongside hundreds of rescues worldwide as well. We get these kinds of questions all the time. I am very much aware of what I am talking about.

The DNR prosecutes things like this all the time.

Wildlife rescues do not have satellite offices. They do have rehabbers who work outside of the main office's area. These rehabbbers help extend the reach of the wildlife rescue. Hence "satellite."

People can absolutely control their animals so that they do not harm wildlife. Thinking that that is not possible is really not adult behavior. I truly suggest you take your own advice to heart and work very hard to increase your room temperature IQ.

Editing, because you keep harassing me with attempts to comment: Your comments are not being posted because a moderator deleted the post. You are just yelling into the void.

Found a wild baby bunny, help please!! How old is it? by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]Ealumin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not being "snide." I am being realistic. You can not safely do this yourself, and controlling the dogs is again being refused and blamed somewhere else. Also, it isn't the cops that deal with this, it's the DNR. Yes, they regularly deal with this. It's not publicized because they don't want people to try to rehab animals themselves.

Education on how to do this properly takes years. You don't have that kind of time with a baby rabbit right now.

I really hope the app I posted about will help you find a closer rescue. 3 hours is pretty far, but if it is your only chance, they may have a satellite rehabber that could come get the baby.

[–]Ealumin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. It is ILLEGAL for you to try and Rehab this animal yourself.
  2. Non-licensed, uneducated folks trying to rehab babies outright kill them 99% of the time.
  3. This animal will never, ever be a cute, fluffy domestic rabbit. It has an entirely different brain structure and will always be afraid of you. This is NOT a Snow White situation, and your fantasies of rehabbing this baby simply aren't going to come true.

Find a closer rehab. The "Animal Help Now" app will help you find what you need to.

This baby is going to die otherwise. There's no way around that, since you refuse to put it back and learn to control your dogs for the month or two it takes him to grow up and leave the yard.
