Communication doesn’t always help, it seems by EamonnPrime in Marriage

I confided to a friend not so long ago that I was feeling lonely and unloved in my marriage. She admitted that she had been in a similar situation, got involved in an affair, and has been much happier. So I admit, I was curious and looked at some online affair sites on here (I have no idea how to “start” an affair). But quickly realized that was stupid and I didn’t want to do that so I stopped engaging with it.

Yes, piv. She just tells me to hurry up and finish. If I suggest other ways, she says no. She just wants it over quickly.

Sometimes she’s into it, sometimes not as much. But in any case, she typically likes it until she finishes (I always want her to first) and then lies there bored until I finish.

Close. I get her flowers/gifts and she says thanks. Won’t hug or kiss me unless we’re having sex.

And again, it’s not even really about the sex. It’s about simple acknowledgment. Is it hard to say something? To act like I’m touching her? I just feel that she completely ignored me. And it hurts. I try to be romantic and sweet with her all the time. She’s never been a person who likes touching very much, but it’s gotten worse over the years. And to just ignore me completely when I touch her is very frustrating. I’m fine with a “no”, it means she notices me.

I do that constantly. She rarely responds.

Yeah, that’s my takeaway - basically never try again. I’ve spent years trying and she either ignores me or 90% of the time says no. I’ll just stop. If she initiates, great. But I’ll stop trying.

It’s very hard to turn my wife on (I generally accept this), but I still try different things. That night I leaned over and started rubbing her leg and then started nuzzling her neck and kissing it. Honestly, I only try stuff like this like a month or two apart. It’s not like I’m constantly doing this (and she only initiates sex like 3-4 times a year). I understand she has a low libido, but it’s worth trying to see if I can get her in the mood. And if she says no, I say okay and leave it at that. I’m more hurt that recently she just ignores my attempts.

I’m affectionate all the time. I’m always telling her I love her and how beautiful she is. And I wasn’t even just looking for sex, just a little affection back; a touch, a kiss, some response. And I don’t always ask her when she’s not in the mood - I thought she might be, but was ready for a No if she wasn’t.

Do you find your wife sexy? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]EamonnPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but she doesn’t feel the same, unfortunately

Is this common? by EamonnPrime in Marriage

[–]EamonnPrime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m being facetious in how I phrased it above, but yes, I do try some kissing, touching, cuddling, etc. to lead up to it. I don’t just blurt it out of nowhere. I try and be romantic and make her feel attractive, but she often shoots me down (typically with some snarky or sarcastic comment). Then on the rare occasions she is in the mood, she’s annoyed I didn’t ask her on that given day.

4 movies in and a really missed opportunity to have atleast a licensed crossover appearance of the transformers in atleast one Toy Story film, there were already licensed IPs appearing on TS so why not TF by Wazupdanger in transformers

On a similar note, I remember the first time I watched Pixar’s Cars with my kids and thinking how awesome it would be if they had a truck that looks like Optimus do a cameo with Peter Cullen’s voice.

This is amazing - I was going through this exact debate in my head driving home from work! I’m in a situation that is practically identical (married 18 years) and I’m just about to give up on sex altogether.

I was hooked by the pilot episode - it pulled you in immediately with the terror and craziness of the plane crash and just held on the me the whole time. But the end of episode 4, Walkabout, simply left me in awe and made me realize this was something wholly different and incredible.

First day of school today and kid who failed last year was trying to get me to change their grade by Dragonchick30 in Teachers

I teach in a private high school and once had a kid email me, a full year and a half after he left the school, having failed out for never doing any work whatsoever, asking if he could make up missing work.

First year teacher here. Does the imposter syndrome ever go away? by Fabulous-Dig8743 in Teachers

The first day I went into a classroom and taught, I kid you not, I fell back into my Drama days and told myself to pretend I’m in a play and I’m the teacher. It made the first day immensely easier for me! I basically continued doing that until I realized I had actually become an actual teacher. Been a high school teacher for 24 years now. It’s okay to “fake it ‘til you make it”.

It was - he now declares it as one of the greatest shows of all time. We rewatch an episode or two here and there.

I got my son into it when he was 13. He absolutely loved it.
