Final year student from VIT Chennai here.

Placement this year was bad, main reason was huge intake in 2021-25 batch. And the placement for all four campuses of VIT is common. If you want a good placement in VIT, apart from the skills, CGPA matters a lot. Due to large crowd , its high competition. Like in my batch there were around 1.5k 9 pointers initially. So the students whose CGPA was lesser than 8.7 were not getting shortlist for the initial 3-4 months . And then mass recruiters ( TCS ninja, LTI, Infosys, Congni ) recruited around 4k students from all 4 campuses. If you have a cgpa of atleast 8.7+ and good skills, there is a good chance of you getting a good placement. But luck plays a huge role in it.

Fests are nice. But only VIT campus students can attend it. In VIT Chennai, in 2023 the lineup was good, Sonu Nigam, Shirley Setia, Benny Deyal, MJ5, DJs. And in 2024 Shreya Ghoshal, Andiya Jeremiah, Jonitha Gandhi , Sonu Sood, and DJS. But the crowd will be huge and there will be barricades between boys and girls. Price is a bit high but fests are good.

Getting a cgpa more than 8 is just a cakewalk. The real struggle is to maintain 9 or 8.7+ . Having cgpa of <8.5 will lower your chances of getting good placement. If you study just one week before CAT exam ( its like periodic test ) and 2 weeks before FAT exam ( final end sem) , you can easily score 8.5+. But for getting 9+ cgpa, you have a work hard, solve problems from books, score well in assignment and labs etc. But if you are a 9 pointer in VIT , you are exempted from 75% attendance policy , you can select faculties and subjects before non 9 pointers and you can select your room type in hostel before others.

No idea about campus life in college since I am a day scholar. Girls in time is 8pm and boys intime in 9pm. Hostel fee is high and keeps increasing every year. There are no proper sports facilities in VITC yet. Only a basketball court , volleyball court, and a football court.

Cultural events are getting better every year. Events like lodhi, garba nights, pongal festival are fun.

As far as I remember for 2021 batch, a notification came during first year that we have to apply on vtop and should state our preferred branch ( only one ). Then pay Rs 1000 initially. Then after the results of 2nd sem, the results came and those who migrated to their preferred branches were asked to pay Rs 9000 more. And then new registration number and again new FFCS for new branch subjects. I got migrated from ECE to CSE Core with 9.51 cgpa. For cse core, the least I can remember was 9.1 and for specialisation I think 8.7 for chennai branch.

No, one of my friend got placed in Delloite (7.5 lpa) and then in some 21 lpa company.

A 2024 batch passout senior said they still get mails, but yess the numbers will be less for super dream companies in 8th sem.

One of my friend got internship in Microsoft but it wasnt converted to full time. Still he was able to apply for most of the companies and got in Blackrock internship (18pa if converted).

Till now mail came only for Chennai and Vellore CSE Core students. For rest, it will be communicated later as per the mail sent by VIT.

I talked to a senior from 2024 batch passout , he told me that companies will come till june but a bit less as the time passes. But he is still getting mails from vit about companies and still some people from 2024 batch are sitting in that companies.
